Nope! I got a 560s as one of my first cans and loved it. I read comparisons and always concluded that I’d prefer the 560s over any 600 variant.
Speaking of incredible entry level sennheisers, if the HD25 wasnt so clampy it would definitely be a keeper in my collection, I dont mind that its an on ear but gosh id pay so much for a less clapmy version I have XL head
Reading unfortunately won’t always reveal the truth. I highly reccomend giving any Sennheiser a try if you ever get the chance. The 600, 650, 660, 58x , while provide very different value propositions are all good in their own ways. You don’t need to buy them just try them if you get the chance they are popular and stood the the test of time for a reason.
I have mine and wont sell it. I barely use them but i still wint sell for many reasons.
After a two month long saga dealing with my Sonore opticalRendu v2, I’ve decided to move on.
I can’t wait forever for them to fix the issue that was impacting the OR v2 from the get go. Just doesn’t seem to like high end boutique precious metals USB cables. SGC is taking it back which is the right thing to do on their part.
I’ve purchased a Lumin U2 after quite a good bit of research and the feature set (and connectivity) it offers. The SFP in, and low noise USB out make it a direct Sonore OR replacement from a standpoint of getting it into my chain. It genuinely is a next gen level streamer for Lumin and I’m looking forward to hearing it.
I liked the Lumin sound but couldnt do the UI for what I was using it for. But seeing who i received that Lumin from, i think you are well aware of those aspects.
The Lumin is what sold me on the “get off the pc!” mentality.
Roon is the great equalizer.
Are you replacing oR and Alpha USB with the Lumin U2?
Thinking about it this way, the U2 price isn’t so bad. Assuming new prices, oR + Alpha USB +. good LPS is pretty close to cost parity, but with less features. If it sonically matches up, maybe it’s a good overall solution.
I’m going to try it both ways and see, will try AES direct from the Lumin and USB into the Alpha USB. I suspect that the Alpha USB will be in the chain but will still try it out.
I traded my ZMF Atrium Closed for the DCA Stealth. The person I traded with only had a mobile setup, so the stock cable I got is 4.4mm. I will have to buy a new cable, I’m probably going to go with the Moon Audio Cable either black dragon or silver dragon. The guy I traded it with said the DCA Stealth is still pretty new and he only really use the pads maybe 4 times. So imma assume this headphone is pretty brand new and probably need more time burn in. 1st impression is pretty interesting though…
I knew what I was getting myself into, so I do recognize the Stealth weakness. What really surprised me is the Stealth strength which I wasn’t really prepared for since I mostly read its negative. When really listening to the Stealth for my first 3 hours, the strength the Stealth brings is really good . I’m looking forward in exploring this headphone and hearing in what it could do in my setup. I gave my first impression on the main DCA thread.
Same, I love that headphone but omg the clamp. As a glasses wearer an absolute no go in the end. Couldn’t keep wearing it.
Only 30 mins listening with zero burn in but these are pretty engaging. The elevated sub bass and mid bass seems well judged as it stands out but is still feels balanced, in line with the rest of the frequency range. Listening to Toto’s ‘Rosanna’, the drums really stand out as the robust foundations of the track, moreso than usual. The resolution is pretty good, too. The bongos on the left of the mix is clearer and more tactile than I have ever heard it before. I will say that there is something missing from cymbals, I think in the lower treble. They’re there and they cut, but they’re missing some sizzle and shimmer that real cymbals have/is usually evident in this track.
FLAC/WAV > SU-1 > Mojo > Estrella (foam tips)
Will listen a little more and burn in for the rest of the day/over night.
Impressed so far, but I’d need a tad bit more sizzle for them to be keepers. Here’s hoping the burn in opens them up a touch more.
I have got myself a first pair of speakers, a Polk ES15 a couple weeks ago, and now i have upgraded to a pair of KEF Q150, i am so impressed with these!
I already had a good chain for headphones and recently introduced a Cambridge receiver to my setup because of the Tungsten, so i thought why not?
Very nice. Is that setup for business, pleasure, or both!?
There’s something addicting about coaxial drivers in a nearfield. I still miss my Q100s. With a little bit of DSP they were so amazing for my desk setup and I still miss that imaging they had.
Its mainly for business but since i spend 8 hours per day in here it is also where i listen to music. My entire setup is here, all the headphones too.
Oh yes, the imaging and soundstage are out of this world! The coaxial and how they behave for nearfield were the reason i decided to pull the trigger on these, i am so glad i did!
Too bad i had to plug the bass ports on the back though, since i am so close the to wall, but gladly i have a monster of a subwoofer here too, so plugged ports + a -2dB low shelf under 100hz did the trick.
Nice. I’m the same, spending all day in my home office with most of my gear in arm’s reach. The difference is that my office ain’t nearly as tidy!
For anyone who hasn’t had the pleasure of buying from Snake River Audio, here’s a few pics of unboxing my new Boomslang BNC coax cable:
I like the idaho spuds frozen.
