What have you purchased recently?

You’re welcome.

EDIT: The SU-6 is a good one though, no worries ever about a power supply to pair with it.

Took the plunge and finally purchased a brise iem cable for the ie900. It’s the bsep model that’s specifically tuned for it. Should be interesting considering the ie900 scale nicely. First “big” audio purchase of the year, keeping it simple!

my hemps are crying in the hanger, so now you got a “bass” grado lol gz, do you know what driver they used?

I see you made a vintage gear thread so I’ll make a long write-up after several hours of use

as I love to give initial impressions, day 1 listen, compared with my test songs:

Pre Box S2D > Burson Funk V6 > RS1

  • Bass is surprisingly present (its mostly upper bass)
  • Upper mids and treble are extremely grado, boosted but compared to say sr325e they feel relaxed (as in effortless) and controlled
  • Drums are very clicky, the treble is silky and sparkly but with good sizzle control (for a grado), vocals/lead inst. are forward and superb with accurate timbre
  • Instrument separation is phenomenal, soundstage size and staging is similar to a sr325e

Pre Box S2D > Grado RA1 > RS1

  • RA1 uses two 9volt batteries and is very light so its transportable, feels well made
  • Vocals are the highlight, or whatever instrument leads the song, it has its own very particular coloration, which is very mid centric (my perception may vary after more use)
  • Bass takes a good step back (but its still very much present) to let the main instruments shine
  • Has a very special glimmer, the funk was sparkly, this adds yet more, sizzle control is still there kinda
  • Drums are way less clicky, but some textures like hands sliding on strings and percussion vibration are more emphasized. Seriously vibrating sounds are godlike here.
  • The presentation is different, staging is more focal clear-ish and soundstage is smaller but has more depth, its noticeably more forward sounding
  • Feels less detailed due to less instrument separation

Im loving the RS1 and im surprised, from all the grados i’ve heard this is easily the best

My first purchase in a “long time” I got another danacable diamond reference and now running full loom.

I’ll be passing down to sell what it is replacing in case someone is becoming cable curious

I’m guessing it’s still an e driver, being a prototype of the GH4 although it uses oak instead of pine wood

Seriously, dudes should tell their women how pretty they are waaaay more. The number of straight women who flirt with me just to get compliments is insane and very fun

You can’t give compliments enough, the correct answer to “do I look fat in this” is “baby I don’t care because you look hot in that” This applies even if what they are wearing is a plastic sack

Edit to add that women should also compliment their men more. Straight people are weird

Maybe its a location thing (or i need to find better people to date )? I’m bi and none of the men I’ve dated have ever been free-er with compliments than the women I’ve dated (though admittedly much smaller sample size for the former). I’m still reelin from when a young mom asked me where I got my hair cut cause her like 6 y/o wanted the same cut like over a year ago. Maybe that was the flames I had air brushed on but hey. A compliments a compliment

Finally ordered some pad mount rings for my TH-900’s. I like to switch between Lawton angle pads and X00 pads frequently, sp this should make the process easier.

Been wanting some Wireless IEMs for a while and thought may as well go for it and ordered these, Absoultely love the pink colour on them XD.

Heard they are rather decent as well which is fab as I really enjoy my starfields so should sound rather similar. Was going to get some UTWS5s but couldnt get them easilly in the UK atm so have deceided to get these instead. If they sound anything like the starfields ill be thrilled.

Think itll be better to have seperate ones just for going outside anyway

We have come full circle, the PWA 1960’s 2wire I sold around this time last year, has come home after a year vacation in Cali! and it’s been reunited with it’s partner after being separated from each other a few months ago… it’s funny how gear makes it’s rounds in smaller communities like this.

It’s only been the second month of the new year. I have only recently mentioned that I haven’t bought anything in a long time, but that has been broken. I present to you… end. game… (for now)

I’ll look forward to hear impressions :eyes:
After my short experience with preamps, I can say that you really hear as much improvements if not more as you would with new components like new dacs, amps, speakers. Dope shit dude!

Unless I find another portable setup in my closet that I didn’t know about, I don’t really have the funds, lol.
