What have you purchased recently?

Bought (more accurately still paying for and buying) the bottlehead crack from my boi don, and today my boi nick mimi’s 6xx arrived on loan to me. Will have a very nice extended listen tonight that im very much so looking forward to. For now did listen for a little and sounds reeeeeallly nice. Like vocals on it are just so damn right on, which is hard to nail to even a decent level on most gear.

So Justin gave me some information about the amplifier. Not a Leeloo, although it has the same tube compliment and ss rectification, as you guessed. 2 el84’s for power and 1 12ax7 as an input. Also, not a Pendant prototype. He thinks it’s an amp he built for personal use at some point. Low z 8 ohm. High z 32 or 300 ohm (he mentioned it’d be labelled inside the amp). 3.5 watts at 8 ohms for speakers.

My first set of Big Boy IEM’s. Got tired of stock Apple.

Edit…darn. I need to trim my nails, lol.

Nice! Def want to hear all about it. Did you get it new or did you bump into it in the used market?

Starfields are very nice for the price. Good fit and sound signature is rather universal. Curious about your thoughts.

My thoughts? Better than Apple pods, lol.

They’re surprisingly good sound for $100. I just wanted “good enough” to just grab when I need convenience above all else, and they’re definitely outperforming that requirement.

Nice! The Starfields are, imo, gorgeous.

Although, I’m probably in the minority here, I don’t really like their sound. But I can find the appeal on why a lot of people like it.

Tbh not my preferred sound signature as well but I don’t mind listening to them. i picked them for like 80 or something so nice beater cheap set. Also it fits my wife which is rather rare so she has some back up to fir now.

I received it in trade recently. My guess is it’s older given that the builder was having a hard time remembering certain details about it.

Getting a read on the amp is somewhat difficult. It just seems to do everything pretty well. Punchy warm bass but nothing else stands out. I’d characterize as a very good all rounder inoffensive kind of amp in the 1.5-2k range. It has Gold Lion n709’s and a JJ ecc99 which may be holding it back some. I have some tubes ordered.

Basically I like it. 3.5 watts is plenty for my Heresy’s and the High z headphone out sounds great with my 600. Performs really well with both. Just not a ton of character to get too excited about (at least with these tubes).

I bet you weren’t expecting to see a $12 Chinese earbud on here were you? Well now you have. And these are pretty good actually. Sound sig reminds me of the Porta-Pro in a way.

Yincrow X6

yincorw xx6 is one of my favortie buds I’ve tried for the price its very good and only a slight upgrade to the vido . the vido is very impressive for its minuscule price tag. There are others I can mention that are cheaper thean the yincrow that I personally feel is cheaper but the curability kinda sucks on them. like I wouould drop them once and the driver dies kinda bad

Yeah I haven’t spent a ton of time with these yet because earbuds up until this point have been my very least favorite form factor and I’m having to get used to them. These are my first set since the ones that came with my iPod back in the day and I hated those because they were forever sliding out of my ear. I can get these to fit securely with the foam but it still takes some fiddling. In terms of sound experience, they kinda sit in a middle ground between my Koss sets and IEMs. I feel like they present more like a Koss set with an open sound (with obvious lack of isolation) and yet they are still sitting in your ears instead of on them. I can see them having a niche in my collection for when I want something I can pop in my ears but still be able to have awareness of what’s going on around me.

I just purchased an Abyss Diana V2. Also received my Violectric V281 yesterday. These were 2 of the 3 upgrade purchases I’ve made. Took 4 months of saving up and selling off a lot of gear. Now I just need my Soekris dac2541 to ship out soon.
