FWIW - I’m jelly - Seriously tho Super Stoked for you I did not have the stones to try a V2 with out hearing one first, so I will live vicariously through you for a while and will look forward to your reports.
What’s stopping ya? ![]()
Any more impressions of it? If you think it’s a keeper, do think about getting a powerman for it.
It’s not like they are hard to sell on the secondhand market, very little risk honestly. In fact I pretty much sold mine while I was typing up the listing for head-fi classifieds, fastest sell I’ve ever done lol
This 100%. That is why I decided “what the hell” and just bought them. Worst case scenario, I sell them for a profit or break even.
Not peer pressure, lol
A bit more serious response, and probably too much for this thread but in a few words. I have chosen wrong on a several occasions and yes, one can sell/trade but that is not always a guarantee.
I wonder how that compares to the new iFi iPower Elite PSU’s, though the iFi 24V supply is only 2.5A.
So you’d need to ensure the Amp doesn’t draw more than that.
That would be an interesting comparison. Although looking at the pics of the iFi, the Burson is waaay more compact and is slightly less expensive. I don’t have enough experience with power units but I wonder if there’s a synergy behind that one should consider?
I have the 24V iPower Elite, use it on a Pi2AES streamer.
Total overkill when you consider the costs, but I was impressed with the difference.
A nicer psu is typically pretty worthwhile on most things tbh, seldom a bad choice
Except for the RNHP right?
It depends lol
Now I’m curious. lol
I know in the past I’ve seen you recommend not swapping out the stock PSU because it altered the sig of the RNHP. So maybe there are some PSU upgrades that have desirable effects on it?
I currently run a ferrum hypsos which I do feel elevated it overall while keeping everything I liked from stock. I also found that a mojo illuminati v3 also accomplished similar results, but neither of those make sense to invest in for the neve, just jump to the next tier of amp instead at that point. Other psu I have tried have made positive changes in some aspects, but negative imo in others, so it’s a game of trade offs
That’s exactly the answer I expected. My guess was a PSU that would be an unquestionable upgrade would be more than the price of the amp itself.
I just bought a pair of HE-500 for $275. Pair showed up randomly on eBay last night and dude accepted my offer.
New floors and wallpaper next?
…though it does have a certain charm to it. One of our bathrooms has similar wallpaper heheh
That would require a renovation which is down the line for sure
