Thanks! It’s my dream guitar and plays like one team but I’m afraid of even touching it. But then it being lightly aged makes me feel a little better :joy:

Wow. I don’t play, always wanted to and this makes me want to even more. :sunglasses:

Black Beauty, indeed! What exactly is the process, can you explain? Is it exposing it to UV or controlled humidity/heat?

They use a variety of methods for relic-ing I believe. It’s not just the wood but also the binding color yellowing and fading, fading of tuners metal and pickups, and then there are cracks in the wood. The cracks on the neck actually make the playability much better.

Mine is ultra light aged so it’s level 1 with level 0 being no aging and has the lowest amount of aging. Higher levels of aging use nitrocellulose lacquer in finish I think to create the vintage look afaik.

EML 45 solid plates arrived. Packaging was appropriate w/ paper and large bubble wrap forming a floating interior :ok_hand: in an appropriate oversized outer box.

@Camus , feel free to bust up more of my toys, it’s just an excuse for me to shop. Country is going to shit anyway, we will never see retirement…gonna have to work till the day we drop dead, might as well enjoy what we can in the meantime :pinched_fingers:

Appreciate it, I’ve got a bottle of red and gold here. Good idea to give them a proper cleaning before having a listen!

Gibson uses nitro on all their guitars but as times have changed they added more and more plasticiser so it is less nitro and doesnt do what nitro does (thin out over time, age, blend, etc) For real nitro you can only spray so much oer year as it should be reserved for small shops and repairs of vintage pieces but Gibson fudges it and they got in trouble with it too. I am not sure if they murphy labs use a different mix since they are higher end and limited.

Hopefully the wood isnt cracked but just the finish checkering. This happens with age, but for these aged pieces they will use a razor blade or pop it in a freezer then take it out and the shock will crack it.

How is the setup out of the box?

Nice, I didn’t know so much about nitro.

Right, I have seen that mentioned a few times too but wasn’t sure. I don’t think the wood is cracked lol, I meant the cracked appearance from the razor cuts etc.

Setup is perfect but then every guitar I get from Sweetwater is like that (they even threw in a couple of Gibson and Sweetwater swag tshirts lol).

Couldn’t resist, great price, solid USAM seller and I’ve been so curious to hear this in my chain. Let’s see how it fits. I’ve spent a lot of time reading about the whole of the Firstwatt porfolio and which one I think I’d like most. After a few emails exchanged with Nelson, he said this would be his choice given my preference descriptions and the fact that it would pair well with the Voxativ drivers.

Interesting comment by Nelson as well, about Voxativ being in his top five list of drivers. If I really really wind up loving this, I may wind up having an LTA UL+ up for sale. The idea of curing myself from tubus neurosis does have its allure. Should have it by Monday… weather permitting.

I just reached out to them directly because I want to buy five pieces and they only sell in sets of three or four. Definitely would like to see what you think.
