A generous loan arrived just now - the third of the trio on my current list
Ey! GZ. Whats left to try?
Well, my list started as LCD-24 (which I still have here on loan), Diana V2, that was here for a bit, and now the D8000pro. However, I may get to expand the list to a 1266tc or Susvara but I’ll wait a minute before reaching out for those.
Hahaha. Good move for your wallet
Pulled the trigger on a 35mm 1.4 Fujifilm prime lens today!!! Super excited, its my first lens that i have bought from the kit lens that came from my fujifilm xt-200. Main reason i bought it is for low light performance since thats always the main bottleneck in performance and considering that my kit lens only opens to 3.5 going to 1.4 now should make a huge difference!
Very nice! Now that you have this new-found power, try to restrain yourself from shooting super-shallow all the time for everything, lol. (I personally like APS-C at f/2.8-5.6 for most things, but you do you. :D)
Lol
Can i ask for what particular reason? I dont necessarily have a preference for f-stop but thats only because i really dont have the convenience to have one lol. Again didnt get it because of the shallow focus/having better background blur but bought it because i really have had tons of situations where i needed to let in better light without setting the shutter speed too low and same for the ISO.
Altho dang boi am i excited for that too hahahaha. Back in the day when i did a bit of photography i also onlly had the stock lens which didnt open too wide but it was a zoom lens so i would always go far to get that beautiful background blur! That’s been the only thing ive been missing until now! Super stoked!
I should really start focusing more on photography to justify the price of the lens lol
It’s just a personal preference thing, there can be a lot of effects from things being too shallow that I don’t love. If only part of the subject is in focus instead of the entire subject, it can be really distracting. If the entire background is blurred into oblivion, it can look like the subject is disconnected from their environment, like they’re in front of a green screen or something.
Honestly, you’ll probably be fine! But yeah, people go crazy with the shallow depth of field sometimes and it’s just not my aesthetic.
EDIT: Pretty much all of the photos I post here [1, 2] are shot on a Panasonic GH5 at around f/4.0. (If you’re in the market for a photo camera, I don’t actually recommend a GH5, it’s just what I happen to have handy most of the time.)
EDIT 2: For a more relevant example of the amount of background blur I like (you’re probably taking pictures of people and not audio gear), here’s a photo I took a couple months ago; the EXIF data shows ISO 400, 1/200s, f/2.8, 25mm (which is roughly equivalent to f/5.6 and 50mm on a full-frame sensor):
BOI me too soon hopefully
It is funny how this hobby works. I was about to get obscure DAC made in my home country and was super excited about it but dude stopped responding to emails. I checked this one few times after discussions I read here and had it somewhere on my list but the price was too much. But I guess I am finally getting the point of buying used lol
Everything I have rn (excl. BF2, 6XX) and have had over the past year almost has been used and I’d have never gotten any of it otherwise. Makes this hobby much more digestible.
I am obviously slow learner but both my DACs were bought used.
La Voce GAAAAAAANG!
Niiiiiiice!!
These followed me home today
if you don’t see me for a few days I may be passed out in my listening chair drooling on myself…
Nice. Just finished the transaction for these guys. Danacable Diamond Reference modded with Furutech FT-111 Rhodium connectors. Really looking forward to it.
What do you think?
It’s a big step up for me, most expensive single item I’ve purchased to date. And they don’t disappoint. I wanted something that can cover a wide range of genres, and be a daily driver for listening at work. And that’s really the case. Comfortable, smooth, and still detailed. But not shoving detail in your face. Needs more hours of listening, but so far a real winner in my book.
Definitely a superb choice for a everyday carry
