What have you purchased recently?

Man, Amazon is crazy fast. I place my order and the Koss KSC75 just shows up before I know it! 1 true step towards true sound greatness… Real reason I got this is because I been hitting the gym for 3 months straight and cardio is super boring. Thought some music will help make it less torture. Plus it’s got the lifetime warranty, so I don’t have to worry about breaking these. It’s also $20 (right now at least) so easily replaceable if something bad happen to them and warranty somehow doesn’t cover it.

Of course before i get these all sweaty, let try them out on my main setup

Does he have a Duet15?

This was dropped off today. I am letting it physically warm up from being so cold during shipping before I actually plug it in and let it warm up with some music. Hopefully ZiNC does a body good.

Got some upgrades recently from friends here on Sonus! Bought an opticalRendu from orrman and a Mikumari Ref.2 from hifiDJ!

I’ll probably give more impressions soon, but I’ll at least say that I really was not expecting the opticalRendu to be as much of an improvement over the ultraRendu+FMC as it’s turning out to be.

Nice! Looking forward in knowing what kind of upgrades you went with.

Drop me a PM after you have settled your new box in and gimme the specs of the old box relative to one or 2 amps I can possibly use it with. If I can use it I’ll be interested in possibly Taking it off your hands. :hugs:
Maybe…the other 2 converter boxes I own don’t get used much either🤔

Thanks @Rhodey @orrman @Christof @elementze for giving a good word to the seller as I didn’t have any feedback.

Nice! I put my Discrete DAC up on USAM a couple of hours ago, so with any luck I’ll be able to get the other one.

@rgdelato IMO the two best bang for the buck streaming/bridge options at their price points are the Pi2AES and the opticalRendu. I say that because those are the point in the hobby where it will take A LOT more money to improve on their sound.

Also remember that it will scale phenomenally well with improved power.

@NickMimi What was I supposed to do, we bumped into him at the show… it was like the universe was making this at home trial for me an option. I’m an hour from his house. lol

@Souldriver I just love Ben’s half assed serial number (PROOF) that a device had been updated. He just wrote PRO in red on the back of my Evo… So always beware buying used Mojo gear which looking at the internals if the seller is claiming it’s an upgraded unit.

That was a good deal for the balanced version. Looking forward to hearing your impressions

Finally got around to getting a Kallax to put all my headphones stuff in, bottom row is empty so I may put in some drawers there. Looks nice and will serve as a reminder of the stuff I should probably sell off at some point lol. In the meantime though I may have to get some more matching headphone stands and get rid of the yoga blocks haha. I also plan on moving stuff around in my office and getting a smaller desk so I can have more flexibility with speaker placement.

Anyways here’s a pic…

Oh yeah, the Holo Red has been here for a bit as well lol. I did do some back and forth but got tired of switching pretty quickly haha. Both are great streamers though and I’d put them on the same performance tier even when the ultraRendu has the Plixir powering it. Red is a bit more forward and neutral sounding than the Rendu. The red is also a bit more accurate with placement in the stage imo. The ultraRendu (powered by the Plixir) on the other hand leans warmer and vocals are a bit more euphoric. Stage verticality is also a bit better on the Rendu, but I’d say both are about the same in width and depth.

After my little A/B test I decided I’d keep the red in my main system. As good of a performer the ultraRendu has been I feel like the red synergizes better with my other components. Red is also more versatile with its digital output options and being able to throw whatever OS onto it. In fact when I first got the red its RedOS was giving me playback issues with Roon (someone said it could be the OS not being able to properly interface with the amareno usb inside my dac), so I just flashed ropieee onto the SD card and I haven’t had an issue since. Definitely couldn’t do that with the Rendu lol. Also no more buying updated SD cards from SGC whenever a major revision is released. The ultraRendu is still a great streamer though don’t get me wrong. Rendus are perfect “I don’t want to do anything technical I just want it to work and I’m only using USB anyways” streamers lol. I could happily recommend either tbh. In the end synergy is the most important, but features are also nice to have haha.

Looks great! What are the feet under the Tyrs?

And I appreciate the brief comparison between the Red and ultraRendu

Thanks, I’m just using some stick on feet from amazon atm. I replaced the front two stock feet on each amp with them and placed a third in the middle back of each amp. Here’s a link to the feet…

I like that they’re kinda squishy and lift the amps up a bit, but I haven’t really done any A/B testing for sound quality tbh so YMMV.

I did notice this too, but wasnt sure! It is more forward than the Douk U2. Now, with this in mind, can you guys help me make my chain more forward?
The only thing I’m missing are cables to make my chain unforgivably forward LOL. Strangely the Holo red seems to have tamed a notch the uppermid shoutyness, making things like smooth but not like reducing resolution more like reducing grain or grittyness.
