What have you purchased recently?

Nothing too fancy. Went with an arctic Aeris. We’ll see how it goes. Wanted something with some flexibility.

After about a 3 month wait the Mod House Tungsten single sided has shown up. Out of the box I am impressed. They sound pretty engaging and seem to have plenty of detail but are not harsh. Supposedly they need a lot of break in so will see how things change after a couple weeks of use.

Sweet. The build looks really nice for a small operation.

Looking forward to further impressions.

Is the grille more lavender or grey?

I’m not sure actually. It’s changes color a bit based on the light, which is an intentional effect. I initially asked for a mix of orchid, cobalt, and purple but that ended up looking too grey then purple. The color I have on this, I don’t know what it’s called, but it looks purple from an angle and grey when you look at it head on

Edit: Reached out to Ryan who runs Mod House Audio and the color is purple with silver flake

Yeah really light and comfortable. Uses ZMF caldera hybrid pads but some are enjoying the caldera ultra perforated pads instead. I have a set of those coming too. The headband is metal, maybe steel? And the earcups use a really weird material that almost feels like sand paper but not in a bad way. Apparently it’s MJF nylon that’s been ceramic coated.

How do these compare to something like a V2?

You would be surprised at what young people pick up and don’t pickup from just watching media alone especially with the past decade having so much 80s nostalgia content.

Not sure yet since these are new but just from some initial impressions I think the v2 are warmer and have a more intimate presentation. The tungsten seem clearer with more impact and bass quantity. Tungsten remind me of susvara but with more energy. I’ll do that comparison at some point, or even tomorrow since I’m bringing both to a local head-fi meet.

Oh, I think it’s a Cerakote. That’s a very durable finish.

They look good.

Yeah cerakote sounds right. At least on the grills

Step 2 in the white studio overhaul…

I have been using these along with some Kanto stands for a couple of years now. Feeding them with my Bryston BHA-1. Amazingly good monitors. Cannot beat the sound for the price!

i have a black pair of V1’s in my bedroom system for a couple years now, cannot agree more for the price

I have the white with white stands. matched the mouse, keyboard and other stuff. I have considered the Kali sub but every time I do a song will come on and the bass that these produce impresses me to the point of holding off on that.

yes im in the middle of changing the whole studio/office over to white, stands were first and plan to do everything. I have been looking at their WS-6.2 subs, really wish they came in white but i guess you cant have everything.

Picked up another key cap set. Always wanted a black and orange theme so I pulled the trigger.
