What have you purchased recently?

Always thought they were cool but a little too minimalist for me lol. I need more.

Oh yeah, it definitely takes quite getting used to but if you hotdesk at work and/or hate the corporate setups, having a tiny kbd is quite handy. Plus, its a nice conversation starter in the office lol

Yeah lol. I’ve used 60%s in the office and people think that’s odd so I can imagine. I currently use a keychron k2 and it’s still enough to turn a head.

I ended up buying the Holo Red that @Christof posted about in the used thread. Been eyeing one since the futureproofing of having all the different output options in one box (when I move away from Amber 3 I may want to switch to i2s or something else) and not needing one or multiple LPSUs to power everything is compelling. Will compare against ultraRendu setup I have (with/without the isolators) once it arrives. If I like it enough I’ll be able to have more space on my rack again lol. Maybe I’ll use the ultraRendu in a secondary system? idk we’ll see what happens.

Also have some upgrade NOS/New tubes on the way for my Amber 3.

Looking to be another fun week of system tweaks.

Had one of my cables reterminated for the D8KP and added a new one for the utopia from Arctic. I feel they did a great job.

Got some new active speakers through a really good local deal… Cabasse Rialto.
Already have them here with me tonight and can confirm they are working but will calibrate and listen to them only tomorrow morning.
These won a few awards and were really hyped in some groups I’m part of. Way out of my budget at MSRP though.

I’ve been struggling to figure out what to do with my Genelecs if I don’t end up keeping the HM1 (AIC would require passive speakers, 465 is a pure headphones amp, Wavedream’s volume control isn’t great) so this might be the perfect solution for my desk.

Link preview is wrong but it will send you to the right page for more info:

My other Kali came into today, kinda sad to see the JBL’s go but I’m ready for the next step in here, more to come…

Finally found one. Was a little worried with this purchase but it worked out.

Interesting these only have 4 pins for a 5u4g.

Yes some 5u4g’s are like that, they only use 4 of the pins, some variants have all 8 of they pins, some don’t.

Yeah, I guess I just never used/or saw one with 4 before. Pretty cool.

Looking forwards to the impressions, I was very positively impressed by the Elrog 845’s and I’m sorely tempted to buy a matched pair of the 5u4G’s for the Egoista, but I just can’t talk myself into ~$1800 for regulators.

Definitely will. I really like the 300Bs too.

Once my amp comes I’ll eventually compare the elrog, eml, and gec.

I tried to go through Elrog directly but they’re not making rectifiers for the foreseeable future. Maybe that’ll change eventually.

I think Elrog is trying to change up their tube production or improve it. I emailed the owner as i know they now sell the TM 300Bs to not Mayer Amp owners but he does mot know when or of he will produce those again and if he will sell seperate.

I would really like to try them or the Mo’s one day. I just hate that most worthwhile new production tubes cost start in the 4 digits.

Also hard when there are still good vintage rectis out there, that while they may be a few hundred, are pretty darn proven (mullard metal and fat bottoms)
