What have you purchased recently?

This should be interesting…

Honestly not expecting much. Hopefully I’ll be surprised.

MJ3 and Kara. Let’s keep this Schiit streak going in this thread

Also got Aperio on demo in today. It has done a great job at distracting me from the Schiit products.

The rack is back and the EtherRegen has arrived.

The electrician I hired did an excellent job installing the new 20A line, and now I can turn everything on without worrying about the breaker. Now I just need to get a longer power cable for my subwoofer so I can run it off of the 20A outlet as well. Tyr’s are running off of a CMX2, the rest (digital and my preamp) are running off of the equi=core that’s being fed by a deep core. Will give impressions when I get time to do some dedicated listening.

On a side note, apparently the 15A breaker the offices were on was loose which may have been part of the reason why the breaker would trip so easily. I was told that if we hadn’t caught that it’d be a potential fire hazard down the line (yikes). Either way the electrician replaced the loose breaker with a brand new one for free.

Annd that’s about it, hope everyone is having a nice week!

Happy Listening!

Excited to find this album at the local vinyl store(price is Canadian). Probably my favorite rock album from last year

MA3 arrived just in time to compare with the Wavedream for the last couple days I have that on loan.

I thought the MA3 would be Bricasti size but it’s both wider and deeper then the MC1

Wow, the meitner is a good looking piece of kit. Will be interested to see what you have to say regarding how it does in your system. I’ve not heard much of them except in small bits here n there.

I’m hearing from a friend with the MA3 that it needs at least 200 hours to start sounding it’s best so won’t write a ton of impressions until then. But it’s sounding so far like it can compete with the Wavedream. I’m hearing differences in the staging but hard to put into words at this point.

As for the build, yeah I was surprised how it felt and looked when I took it out of the box. It’s not very heavy, but it’s well put together and the finish on the front panel is very nice. There’s a lot of settings to change through the screen, remote, and there’s also an app so I imagine it will take me a little while to figure out all that it can do.

Nice setup! Excited to hear more impressions as you familiarize yourself with the MA3. What are your thoughts on the Kara btw? I noticed you were one of the first people to get one, not sure if you still have your freya+ to compare, but any thoughts against the serene? Sorry for all the questions lol just curious.

I’m enjoying the Kara so far, when I set it up in place of the serene it didn’t sound any worse but hard to say how they compare at this point. I do still have a Freya + and when I compared to the Serene I found the Serene to stage a bit larger, sound smoother, and have more detail. I plan on comparing Serene to the Kara as well but just want to give the Kara some time to break in and for myself to adjust to it before doing that. I also will try the MA3 as a preamp directly to my speaker amps

Don’t know if this counts but I’ve been listening to more and more jazz lately and have been wanting to do this since last year and no time like the present so went to the city and picked up this beauty. I was able to play the C major scale without sounding like a donkey braying so I’ll call that a victory and wait for my first lesson :saxophone:

I used to play tenor in middle school, although I didn’t practice that much so I wasn’t very good. It was a fun experience though. Gorgeous instrument!

There’s a guy at the corner a few blocks from me, every time I pass by I stop and listen. I never have cash on me though so I went to an ATM around the block and took out twenty bucks and dropped it in the case. The guys just plays and plays and man, there’s something magical about reed instruments. Hearing that woodsy silk tone that pours out, magic.

Niiiice, I played alto for 3 years in junior/high school but stopped after (sax was a rental so it went back). It’s been quite a while since then but I could probably pick it up again with some practice. Who knows maybe we’ll have to get a sax/woodwind thread started when I get one of my own lol. Good luck with learning! It’s a fun instrument to play but I’m definitely biased haha.

Awesome looks like a nice horn. I used to play alto sax through high school. Still have it but haven’t played in close to 10 years

Many Sax players here, pretty cool! I’ve never played a wind instrument myself (I don’t think messing on a harmonica counts much), just stringed ones. Certainly a very different experience.very excited for this journey!

Got these a few weeks ago and just realized i never posted them

Critial Mass Systems Center Stage 2 1.0

Picked up 3 for $500 shipped which seemed like a solid deal to me. Idk about an upgrade from what i had (stage is deeper and a bit clearer but background doesn’t feel as shockingly black), but they are at least the same tier far lower profile (meaning the knobs arent hidden behind my monitors) so im counting it as a solid buy

yes, sorry for the delayed response.

I’m just listening with IE900 and I love the sony sound signature, but I’m actually not blown away by the WM1AM2, compared to the zx300 but I need more time to listen. I’m actually considering sending in the zx300 to get hot rodded instead (because I’m crazy).

The audio lag is way too much to use the WM1AM2 as a general computer audio DAC and streaming over wifi isn’t an option at work so it’s a bit of a bummer on that front. I was traveling but will be doing more listening this week and weekend.

If you’ve got any specific questions let me know but I will warn you there are lots of reports that the zx-707 has some volume limitation issues.

Who were you thinking of sending it to? NP Audio?
