I have yet to try a HP on my HPA-1 that has not been an enjoyable combo. The fact that the amp has no remote volume control is the only reason it stays on my desk as a proper HP amp and that has been a blessing in disguise, otherwise it would be doing double duty as a pre-amp in one of my 2 channel set-ups 
and i would not constantly be praising its glory as a HP amp. I also have yet to find an upper echelon HiFiman, which when not being serviced, has failed to please me otherwise. 
I am not married to any HP in particular, the HE1k vs 1 though has been on my radar for a trade more than once. Good to know the combo sysnergizes.

@NickMimi Agree with everything you’ve said. This is the fourth Hifiman I’ve tried and all impressed the heck out of me. Same with the pass- all 3 headphones I’ve tried worked well!

Andy what DAC did you end up getting after selling the Rockna? And is the Pass instead of the V550 or in addition?

I downgraded my whole setup. I got an Exogal comet for 1k and the Pass for 1.8k. Not as amazing as the Bakoon/rockna, but a wild value.

Schiit Freya S on 2ch. Big difference in sound quality and usability. A remote! Imagine that. Toying with the idea of swapping the BF2 into this setup and Modius back to desk setup. For the desk I’d like to end up at a chain like SU-6 > Ares or Pontus > GSX-Mini (maybe, gotta be green)/G111. Thought I was close to getting Arya V2 recently.
Anyway. This was a big jump in 2ch setup. Happy with streamer and preamp buys. Listening to setup much more. Happy with turntable, subs. Haven’t rotated speakers around at all, but getting to the point of being interested in doing so. Still thinking about cheap monoblock setup for here.
