The uRendu is a significant upgrade, it has essentially wrecked my pi streamers and Allo DigiOne for me. So I will be replacing those endpoints as I can.
Welp, just put the money down for a Berkeley alpha series 2 in the hopes this will fix all my problems.
Ey! Gz! I hope you like it!
Not exactly a purchase yet, but I have demo lined up for this Friday to check out the Raidho D1 with stands as a local sale. Pretty excited and it will be a significant upgrade to my speakers.
I think @M0N has a pair. They’re definitely a step above, and bring us impressions.
Those are sexy. To replace your Harbeth or in addition?
It would be a replacement, if I get them.
Couldnt of put it better. I hope they work out for your ears.
I just worry about the synergy, but I am getting a demo. Short one, but still one. We’ll see how it lines up with my electronics.
As long as it doesn’t give me listening fatigue, I will be a happy guy.
There’s one for a ridiculous low price on USAM in SoCal for some reason
That’s the one I’m demoing. He is going in another direction.
They are some of the nicest speaker stands I’ve seen.
It has some ball bearing decouplers that I think are so cool. Hopefully, the entire stand doesn’t tip over very easily though, lol!
I was always curious about those. Initial thoughts?
Neutral bright, can be bright with some sources
Huge k712 pro like soundstage but a bit bigger
Similar in width to hd800, a bit less vertical than the hifiman arya.
Its a big soundstage boy.
You can feel the 1.5tesla in the slam, these have a ton of slam everywhwre, specially in the midrange.
The tonality is classic akg similar to k612pro, what I would call akg neutral, or neutral bright.
With a warm amp you can also give them a more than decent amount of warmth, I use the yamamoto ha02 tube amp.
They sound very good in the rnhp and the burson soloist, being neutral bright.
Excellent instrument separation, and the imaging is forward and in your face instead of what the hd800 do with a similar amount of soundstage.
The mid forwardness might be a bit too much for some (m0n xd)
The technical performance for used 700 and below is outstanding, these are really really good if you wanted what the k612, k702 or k712 pro did but in a higher tier. Keeps the akg spirit.
Remember all of this was initial impressions, subject to change.
Cool. I think I get the gist.
Thank you.
Having rearranged everything and changed cable runs I wanted to consolidate and organise my power strips into something both better quality and tidier. Additionally during the moving around I had my amps on a non filtered power strip and noticed they had slightly more slam and drive. After a lot of window shopping and multiple rethinks I decided to put my own power stack together using a 6U box. I plan to add a power conditioner (either Adam Hall or Furman) to the top bay for my dacs, ddc and streamer. It also gave me a proper home for my managed switch again.
Top to bottom:
- Blank, reserved for power conditioner
- Adam Hall dual front/back surge protected power strip - rear for amps etc, front for network gear.
- Adam Hall rack mount power strip - power to PC and other non audio gear.
- Blank
- Cable passthrough
- Netgear managed switch
Thats a real cool power outlet solution, congrats
I demoed them vs the 872’s in store (about 3 hours of my Saturday morning).
That is my main gripe with the 812’s and why I really really really want 872’s
