What have you purchased recently?

I’m getting the HEKse here tomorrow so I’ll see but only had the Susvara with it so far. Also a speaker taps to XLR cable is on the way.

@M0N really likes Utopia with LTA. It’s high on my list to try and get an audition here.

Awesome, keep me posted. I’m pretty excited to try the LTA Z10e with my Utopias, but it’ll be a while until they make their way back to me haha.

Cool mat, it would distract me though!

Got the HEKse and a Black Dragon V2 and an extra set of pads for $2000, that’s A LOT of headphones for the money from a quick listen. Need much more time to figure out what’s going on here but definitely feels much more forward than the Sus.

Norne Drausk for the hd600, so it now has uts own balanced cable. Too lazy to get out of bed right now though, so enjoy this cross court shot.

I hope it sings! Would love to actually put $ into a boutique cable for my HD600 as other projects come to a close for me. We should have cables as part of that unfinished communal Senn HD6-- series we started a while back.

Should resurrect and complete it.

The plussound x8 works very well with it, adding some thickness. But i need to use both 3.5 to senn 2 pin adapters and whatever amp side adapter. While the dhc adapters are awesome, this just simplifies and gets me the correct length. I hope it hits the same.

Fun with fiber!

MikroTik CRS305 switch arrived today. It’s the last piece in putting together an (almost) all fiber network for Roon network streaming

I fell down this rabbit hole about a month ago, and started learning about fiber network gear. Much more involved than standard copper Ethernet, but not too bad after some reading/youtubing.

The main benefit is it gets away from a 150ft Ethernet cable run from my router to the switch that all my Roon gear connects to. Now it’s a 150ft fiber run. And only audio gear connects via this fiber run.

Modem → router → eth/fbr → 150ft fiber → MikroTik switch → Roon ROCK / Roon Endpoints

ROCK is Ethernet into the switch, but all Endpoints are fiber.

It’s mostly for fun - not expecting sonic magic. But it is a clean setup, and it makes me feel good about it

You like this kind of fiber more than bran fiber?

Congratulations! Is this a DCS streamer?
Edit : Ok I looked closer and see it is a network bridge. Unfortunately I’m still trying to figure out what that actually does :eyes: I’m still slow with some of the digital equipment available to us and the different applications. You system is complicated :man_shrugging:

It’s kind of like a Pi2AES but a little more up market.

Actually thinking about your question a little more: what’s the difference between a bridge and a streamer? They’re similar although I’d say a bridge doesn’t have buttons or a display. You need to control it via an app. A streamer would have button and you could play/stop/next via buttons on the unit and it would typically have a display telling you what’s playing.

…something not commonly shared here…Vintage experience

Pioneer PD-93 CD Player (finally repaired)

  • DSP: BurrBrown PCM63K (20bit)
  • Analog RCA: 17y Cardas Golden Hexlink 5 (with Stillpoints ERS Fabric)
  • Sonic with internal DSP: usual warmth sound, much closer soundstage, works fine with classic + jazz, overall: nice to have, but not for daily listening…
  • Sonic with Weiss 501 mkII: waiting for Abbas 3.2SE Tube DAC to do comparison

Note: AMP + ELAC Concentro speaker’s of course not such good pairing with that kind of source, experiment.

You need to give froggy some vibration damping. It’s feeling neglected.
