Jealousy peaked!
Yes I like it a lot, impressions I posted elsewhere, though I’m kind of interested in moving to something with USB out.
Talk to me if/when you’re ready. It’s never a good time to buy this shit, but the higher end streamer market is as dry as it gets now and it’s been hard to move things. I’d been looking for a DCS but given M0N’s description I think the EMM might be more of a fit for my eventual destination.
Will be very curious about your impressions running the Sus/1266 out of the speaker taps against the WA33
I don’t think there is anything different between the headphone out and the speaker outs on the tribute, I believe it’s the same transformer tap, but I should check.
I don’t have high expectations with the Susvara, but I could be surprised.
Impressions so far is it’s technically comparable to the WA33, with a more obviously SET sound to it, though still very much on the dry side.
Tubes, and some sweet bundled info and notes from Andy.
The 7308s are the prize here. Only thing i want more are the “defect” pinched waist versions, but they are thousands per tube. But these were made a few miles from my house, next to the park i played ball at. They were most likely supplying the aircraft manufacturers who employed my father to make programs in the machine shops (cnc via dot tape feed), and working on the lunar lander at that time. They are special as is. Even more so considering they have mirrored/matching date codes.
Oh… and some kimbers
Awesome tube story and personal connection is kind of unique in this hobby
I am familiar with and know every tube in that stack except for the Chatham 6080🧐 Is that rectifier for something? Something I know I’m not familiar with obviously. Very nice acquisitions there👍 Very nice, I hope you finally get some good sound going!
A tube that is an inexpensive sub on the BHC. It should be more linear than what i have now and it should last forever.
They do note it works with lumin products. And that one dead indicator on the front bothers me a little… But nah, i think most of the benefit is already there with the psu out of the main box. Plus you already carved a spot in the packaging boxes foam and the SGC LPS has a switch with a very satisfying thonk.
Initial impressions, hope they get a little better. I know they need burn in but I feel the bottom is just empty. Plus side, they look good and are comfortable.
I know its very initial; but do you feel they are less bright than the OG (if u heard)
I never heard the og, sorry. But I think these are right where they need to be when we’re talking about the upper FR. Still early on, but I’m not feeling the lower portion of the FR. And maybe this will change with some time and burn in.
Did you feel the same way about the OG, to me it has more than enough Bass, it can be a bit one note compared to say a D8000Pro (most headphones are), but to me it’s present and pretty dynamic.
But again I’m not a bass head.
I never heard the og. I heard the og clear and felt it needed burn in to seem right. Maybe some brain burn in too.
The speed on this is excellent from the start. Same with clarity and separation. The stage is better than I imagined too, so that’s good. Just confused because the lower FR are so weak. Seems to rolloff so fast. The slam wasn’t even that great. I’m letting them burn in and I’ll come back to them.
Never heard the d8kpro but I think it may fill my linear bass rumble and texture cravings at times.
And I’d say from my earlier listening impressions the music just seemed off. As if it was completely artificial, meaning everything was added in separately. Hard to explain. As if someone said each cup had 3 drivers and they were all adding in different pieces at times. And to get more low end you have to turn it up louder than I’d normally like. This may all go away, but idk?
The none pro version has more bass, the impressive part of the Pro isn’t the quantity, it’s the articulation of the bass notes, it’s arguably better than the Susvara in that specific regard.
Yeah that sounds good. I really liked the linear bass on sus and texture it provides with strings.
yum…
Are you sure this is true? The z10 doesn’t have the same output and the z10e didn’t either until reviewers shat on it.
