Trying out a matched set of the Audio Envy O’nestian XLR interconnects. Not sure what setup I will put them in first since I just last week swapped a new set of interconnects into the Susvara setup, and for me it is too soon to switch them out again. I think these will go in to the desktop setup, between the Yggy and v550. All subject to change at any given moment…
The photo (too lazy to snap another) does not show it, but a screw in each of the Right channel connectors is an adonized red, allowing for subtle identification. I think that is pretty slick.
I just bought an Arctic Cable (Define Cable) for my Aeon 2 Noire. Since I haven’t bought from Arctic before, I figured I’d buy an affordable Cable from them until I see how I like them. They offer so many choices though, which is nice.
So I bought this a couple weeks ago and I mentioned it very briefly, but I picked up what is effectively a modded Goldpoint attenuator from Mojo with a couple extra bells-and-whistles:
In addition to having more volume range on my amp, sounds seem to have noticeably more texture. My guess is that this has nothing to do with the attenuator and everything to do with just getting my levels to a good place, but I can’t really verify that.
More likely to be the cable change.
Generally pots do have a sweet spot, but that’s not true of stepped attenuators, and adding an additional Pot rarely improves things. Most headphone amps just attenuate the incoming signal, so whether you do it with 1 pot or 2 it usually isn’t changing what’s being amplified.
Having said that I have seen volume done after a buffer, or even between stages and if the Allnic does that, it could just be the earlier stages seeing more signal.
I did hear the Anticables 6.2 before adding the attenuator into the chain, but the purchases weren’t /that/ far apart, so yeah, maybe some kind of continued cable break-in is actually what I’m hearing.
Went through the gamut of ZMF pads I possess, and the angled stock pads I had for the LCD-XC turned out to be the best (comfiest as well). The Teak cups with the same config are about 80% of the way to the LCD-XC sound-signature (analytical, even tonality, etc.), but I wanted to go for the more euphonic & v-shaped signature. Tempted to go the Lawton route and pick up one of the Type 1 cups.
That looks really good. I’ve been eying the Arctics. I got to use one on the LCD-5 I had on loan. The cable was pleasing visually, made well and sounded great. I remember being bummed it had the mini xlr connectors and I could not try it on the Susvara or Fostex. I hope that you enjoy it!
SMSL AO200 for my secondary system that’s basically a collection of gear I hoarded over the years and suddenly it all works together (or one would hope later tonight lol).

Just pulled the trigger on a BriseAudio Mikumari Ref.2 for my HD800s, finally decided to treat myself as I have been using them with stock cable up until now.
Now’s a good time to order btw, they are running a 10% off sale from now till the 30th when you make a account, they recently redid the whole site and added international orders so now it’s very easy to order.
Interested in your take on that MySphere synergy. I like my Molecule Elite 19 Fusion, but could see something slightly more relaxed and fuller low end being nice as an option
