Sorry for the delayed response btw. They’re very hot, but fortunately they don’t get too hot and shut down lol. I definitely need to leave my door open while they’re both on, purely for airflow purposes. I also recently got a Pelonis fan that is very quiet on it’s lower settings, and plugged it into a separate outlet. I usually set the fan to 3 and put it behind the rack, that really helps push the hot air out of the room and keeps the aegirs from getting uncomfortable to touch. If I’m doing serious listening then I’ll turn off the fan, but either way there hasn’t been a detriment to the overall quality of the sound when it’s on or off imo. I’m sure in the winter months though the aegirs will do a great job keeping me warm in my office/listening room lol.
LOL. My BF2 and Asgard 3 throw off significant-enough heat - I had to reorient how they lay/stack this summer as I keep it fairly warm (read: cheap). Definitely a beautiful sounding space heater.
@lrjshabaz My Asgard previously sat alone and got only a little warm. (Dac off to one side) With the BF2 beneath it got considerably warmer, as expected. I put spacers between them and that helped considerably.
PS liking the sound with that pair!

I use really tall rubber feet like these to have significan space I’m between the stack. It works like a charm the asgard just feels warm and bf2 feels just slightly warmer than room temperature
Sticky feet are great! Just be really careful of anything made of Sorbathane. That stuff sticks like crazy to wood and will even stain aluminum. I add felt pads to all my sorbathane to avoid my initial mishaps and ruining my furniture again.
Edit to add, when i need it to be sticky i basically wrap it with kitchen plastic wrap, which gives it just enough barrier from the wood while still maintaining the non slip ability.
The gang is back together, but this time everything is plugged into the Stellar Powerplant 3 which just got here today (just before the movers showed up). Now only missing internet in the house lol
I struggle sometimes between downloading shit or just buying CDs. $35 including shipping for 8 albums. You can’t download anything near that cost. If it’s something I REALLY want and it’s hi-def, then I’ll buy through Qobuz or or whomever I can get the cheapest copy from.

Felt like I was ready to move on from my Matrix mini pro 3 so I picked up an A90D. First hour was kinda harsh but it seemed to chill out once it warmed up, we’ll see how the next few weeks go…
Interested to hear an opinion on that. I feel like Topping particularly are trying to be both cheap and cheerful and quality mid-fi. I think that’s a hard sell for them. They keep doing these more expensive units and I find it hard to work out how good they are as the opinions range from “meh, chi-fi” to the gushing of Youtube reviews.
I’ve found my ears “re-baseline” after an hour or two with a new component, and then that sound becomes my new normal.
What in particular was harsh about it?
A few new things have come since my last post… first thing was new tubes for my freya+. I now have a matched pair of RCA black plates on the right (driver) side and a matched pair of GE tubes on the left (follower) side.
I also got a pair of emotiva cmx2 power conditioners after I noticed quite a bit of transformer hum coming from the aegirs (not noticeable while I was listening to music, but enough to be noticeable when just being left on between listening sessions)…
After introducing the cmx2’s into my system my aegirs became dead silent. I can’t even hear anything when putting my ear right next to the amps. It also helped with the hum that was coming from my amber 3 (but that had less noticeable transformer hum than the aegirs did).
Lastly, I also got a pair of Shunyata Venom V14 power cables to hook up to the aegirs as well. I was surprised by how much more detailed and forward my system became after introducing them (this was pre cmx2’s fwiw). I plan on eventually getting another V14 to replace my only other WAudio power cable being used with my Freya+, but for now me like (and no, the left cable in the upper cmx2 doesn’t get replaced as it was hand made by db_Cooper and is being used with my amber 3). Anyways, that’s everything that has come, going to have to take a break from audio purchases for a bit, but for now my system is at a point where I’m really happy with it. Happy listening everyone!
