Congrats! Look forward to your writeup. It was one of the two planar cans I was looking to call my end game but I’d never listened to.
monoblock aegirs now exist on my rack…
gonna give them some time to warm up/break-in but so far with my Susvaras there’s a noticeable increase in dynamics and punchiness, better bass depth but bass texture seems to be the same. Slight increase in stage width, but no difference in depth. Treble seems more effortless and less strained throughout the range of volume I use. Overall clearer sound sig than with the single aegir (though my audience ohno xlr cables may be playing a role here as well). Definite step up overall though and I’m enjoying what I’m hearing.
I really enjoyed the LCD-24 when I had them on an extended loan. I keep telling myself I am going to roll on the next good set I see or just buy one of the NOS pieces from moon but there always seems to be something else distracting me - usually no money…
Enjoy !
The Spring3 + v550 I think tamed that for me in my setup as it was not something that stood out for me, but I see where maybe it could with other sources. In my notes I have several places “cymbal crash & shimmer” written down - unfortunately I did not leave a key as to if that a was a positive or negative observation.
@M0N or @Polygonhell or whomever else is a mod - could you move this to the Audeze headphone Thread please I forgot where I was, it is leaning off topic.
Are you thinking of using those Aegirs with other parts of your system, besides the Susvara. The setup looks nice by the way.
Eventually you can move the Aegirs side by side and make space for another component. ![]()
Just sayin’ cause you know, there’s always more components.
the 24 for me was more on the warmer darker relaxed side of things. There was some sparkle in the upper regions but it really helped bring out cymbals and crashes to help balance out the more relaxed warmer signature of the 24 along with its slam. Something like the diana v2 for me could get a bit shimmery in that region but didnt have as much slam as the 24, but for sure a nice step up overall from the 24. The 24 was just more of a relaxing set comparatively. The timbre on the 24 was great but some what colored, but not necessarily artificial. Especially in the upper mids and treble.
Thank you for the compliment, I’m going to be using them exclusively with my susvara’s for the time being until I “make space for another component” lol. But in all seriousness they will probably switch to speaker duty when I eventually get a new amp that I like more with the susvaras (or the new amp will do speaker duty if I still like my susvaras off the aegir’s more). My current living situation makes it so I can only occasionally listen to my speaker setup (and quietly at that) so my primary setup is still going to be headphone (susvara) focused.
I listened to them on all of my current chains. I also found them intensely brighter than the Diana V2. Maybe manufacturer variance is at play.
There is a narrow band peak in the 9 to 10 k range (give or take, I’m going off of my own hearing and the notes I wrote down at the time). For me personally, it isn’t boosted treble that bothers me…it is narrow band peaks…especially when they emphasize certain things that shouldn’t be emphasized. It made crash cymbals, firecracker snares, etc sound too etched. The best example of what I experienced was when I was listening to orchestral music. Orchestral stringed instruments sounded unnatural to my ears (could actually hear the creak of a bow on a violin more forward than the rest of the instruments, which really bothered me).
Each to their own though, I’d never criticize somebody for liking something I didn’t care for. The best part about Audio is that there is normally many choices for the different preferences in the hobby. But I am curious about how one can call them dark, which is so polar opposite of my experience. Like the last thing I’d call them is dark or relaxed.
I second guess myself often with folks who call certain HP’s dark, or warm etc. which i have personal experience w/ that exhibited no such characteristic that i could discern and i often wonder at their choices of both music, source material and front end along with at times if they have early onset hearing damage…
It makes you question yourself for sure. I’d say often manufacturer variance plays the biggest part.
I swear that has to be it, I’m not picking on the comments here about the LCD24, just in general reading posts in FB and other forums it happens plenty often and I will many times go back and re-listen to things trying to figure out if my own personal choices are coloring the impressions i have of a product ![]()
we use bright, sibilant, hot etc a lot, surely things can be darker, relaxed?
but ofc when someone has different experiences weather it be from poor recording choices or whatever it is, def can make the mind boggle
Very cool industrial look you got there.
I look forward to more impressions and perhaps some comparisons to other amps if possible
What’s the heat like off those guys?
I respect the Tenz life of having 200 mice
Gotta try em out, see whats right for me ![]()
Convention haul. Surprising lack of high quality anime collectibles this year so artist alley was where I went
Got the ZMF grado pad adapter with the beyer lambskin perf pads which is what they recommend and its surprisingly good
I have tried most grado pads (incl shipibo) for the rs1 and none comes as close to the flats like these
Bit brighter, more spacious, less intimate but maintains the tone and imaging
Art and music go together like rice and beans, peas and carrots, Bullwinkle and Rocky, Rodrigo y Gabriela, salt and pepper and Salt and Pepper.
