Welp, the way life has been lately nothing could be 100% good for me

It looks like despite the seller saying he was original owner and had no issue with the headphones… Something funky is going on. Popped off the other earpad while cleaning, and welp… These dont match…
I dont see a copper ring, no black line, wtf.

I asked the seller if there was a driver replacement done on these but i havent heard back yet.

Super discouraging to be honest, just fuuuuuuuck.

That sucks. Sorry to hear that and that anyone needs to go through that. I always consider the hifi community as very honest and trustworthy but there are exceptions

Only the lowest of the low do that on purpose. Very small chance he did not know either. Slight possibility He got burned as well but he should have sold it for parts with fair warning for the unsuspecting. I do worry about this as like many I bust my ass to afford this stuff and getting burned once would be all t takes to force me to buy new or not at all and THAT would suck Donkey dicks!!!

And there is a difference in driver balance as well… The older driver is clearly better. Better definition, texture, cleaner, the center image feels like it leans towards the side of that driver.

Meh…I’ve been burned a few times. I like new but my champagne tastes survive on a cheap beer budget🤪. Even after getting burned the temptation of used always comes back. Most folks are OCD and take care of their stuff…most…

Agreed and 90% of my purchases have been that way but I worry, Especially when you score something that is “almost” too good to be true…

Yeah, while i want the one good driver, i doubt ill ever find someone selling a single matching driver.

I could put the newer revisions drivers into this chassis with the black silk screen but I dont know how much if anything that will do.

I think its best i try to get a return going then forget i heard how good that one driver was.

Well I was planning on getting one near the end of the year but shoutout to @OneEyedHito 's surprise flash sale on the mysphere thread! Btw, he was a pleasure to deal with. No fuss, no complaints, and very accommodating.

This should be interesting…

This stock cable is ass. It’s already finicky that I thought the left channel broke. Thinking of a brise cable for it before their prices increase next month. No sound impressions yet. Build is impressive, the thing is well-put and feels so solid in the hand.

Edit: 3.1 btw

Very curious about what you’ll think about it, I’ve been looking at getting one for the past week. I usually read manga on my kindle oasis, but as nice as the experience is, I’d like to try out a bigger size display and see if I like that better or not.

To update. The guy admitted to me he bought an “audio files” stash and he himself is not an “audio file”. I feel less mad now but am super deflated on the whole thing. That good driver was definitively better than the other cans i have and would have been the keeper to help me sell and reduce gear.

A semi ok side is i contacted him saying i would like a return for a full refund and he agreed. Shipping back is on me but at this point i want to wash my hands of all senns.

Just fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Yeah it came in today, I will have time to put it through its paces later tonight and the coming days.

I researched quite heavily to find the perfect e-ink device for Manga since I know that will be my primary usecase. These are the most important features I was able to gather in my search.

  • android os with Google play services is a must for me. This will allow me to run third party reader and marketplace apps.

This also makes it so I can install tachiyomi which not only is the best manga downloader and manager but also the best reader I’ve been able to find specifically for manga

  • 7.8/8 inch screen is a must, this the sweet spot size as most if not all manga tankoban page sizes are right under 8 inches. Any smaller and you have to do a bunch of squinting or pinch to zoom, bigger and it looks off not to mention a heavier device. Getting a screen just the right size for the format feels almost as if you are holding a physical volume when it comes to viewing experience.

  • Storage. Most e-readers come with a max of 32gb there are some that come with 64 but those are far a few between and then you have cheaper devices that only come stock with 8gb. 32 gigs get you tens of thousands of novels but Manga being a image format is a lot bigger in size. If you are going to only use the device at home then no worries you can just connect to internet and use tachiyomi through wifi, but if you are going to take it offline you will want download you series through tachi ahead of time and that can fill up space quickly. Luckily tachi is very good at download management so it’s easy to replace individual chapters and series with others quite seamlessly.

If you can find a reader with expandable SD memory then that would be best, but again those aren’t common and the one that do support it are limited in other areas. I went with a nova air with 32gb but no expandable memory but becausee it’s android there is a option to connect a hub or SD reader through otg cable and expand it that way. Meanwhile it has all the other features I want.

Other downsides are that most pure e-readers won’t provide all these features, so in my case while the nova air is the most ideal choice for me, it also is wasteful since it’s more marketed as a e-note device, alot of the features it comes with are targeted at note taking and it’s a very powerful tool for that use, but I will likely not use it for that at all. It’s not exactly cheap either so not using on e of the biggest features feels like a waste of money.

Jumped in on the power management game with this PS Audio sale on power plants.
I’ll say i’m coming from electricity hell, i’m in a condo building that has retail on the ground floor so my power is probably closer to a bowl of spaghetti than a sine wave but first 10 minutes with the PP3 and it’s made a clear difference. Bass hits, leading transients, and the soundstage is wider, as well as better definition of depth/layers.

The painful part is that now I guess I need to do my power cables…this shit never ends yall.
