The T-Resonator is an insane device. You have to be very gentle on the knobs, because it will screech at you with all its might if you don’t fiddle with caution.
In the above picture, I have a Y-Splitter between my Synth and T-Resonator, the other leg of the splitter passes through the Komorebi and then unites (and cross-modulates) with its clean self in the T-Resonator. Makes for some wild sounds!
Also: The Komorebi has buttery smooth knobs! Puts everything else I have to shame.
So I spent a bit more than $50, but at everyone’s behest, I picked up an entry-level bridge/streamer/whatever to see how I like it! This is a refurbished Sonore microRendu along with one of Small Green Computer’s linear power supplies.
If I totally love it, maybe I’ll swing for the whole opticalRendu package, though I’m getting a little ahead of myself considering I haven’t gotten to actually /listen/ to it yet. Also, I’m not currently a Roon subscriber, but I’ll almost certainly give Roon a try as part of the whole streamer thing too.
Well I was almost ready to go for one of those fancy usb reclockers, but I guess this popped up at a good time for a fair price with features I was looking for…
Brief impressions: Yeah, definitely an upgrade coming from the PC that’s for sure. Though honestly, it didn’t really surprise me. lol Also, I’m getting a vague sense that this G1 is a tad flat sounding and tonal weight that is on the lean side of things. Only used it with spring so far so it could be different with lampi. Bought one of those upgraded psu that was highly recommended as well. That should bring some welcome improvements.
I gotta say Sumeet that I’m surprised that your DAC game is as “modest” as it is given the raw horsepower of downstream gear you’ve got in your collection!
In the less expensive corner, I wanted to give a speaker amp a try with the Susvaras so I got an Aegir (I’ll get a solid 3k amp for the susvara’s eventually I promise lol). man does the thing get hot. Oh it also sounds awesome, I have to turn it quite a bit further up than I anticipated though, but that may just be that it’s rated to 20WPC at 8ohms which is like 2W or something into 60ohms. definitely wider and deeper staging than the Jot2 , also more impactful and warmer than the Jot2 with more control over the lower frequencies. No loss of detail, but a bit less bite in the higher highs. Vocals seem more forward but aren’t in your face.
It may be silly but I kinda wanna try getting a second and trying them mono with the susvaras to compare the differences, but so far so good. Not trying to be a Schiit shill even though I’m starting to look like one with all my Schiit gear lol. More amps (not just from Schiit I promise lol) and impressions to come.
Y’all are awesome, and I hope everyone has a nice weekend. Happy 4th to those who celebrate it!
