Thanks, I do always enjoy hearing about the more obscure hps. I really like the 770 250 ohm which I still have, but am selling atm. With all the other gear I have I don’t believe they’ll come up often in my rotation.
With the 600 ohm being so rare, though, I was always wondering about them, so now my curiosity is satisfied to some extent
Nice, I have the same keyboard in black.
Gain box sounds very useful, sadly they don’t support linux!
ah damn. yeah and nearly zerp hope it ever will. I know the go XLR might serve the same functionality along with also being a audio interface. but it is pretty pricey. I am hoping someone else makes a better version of this thing
i really like it its a great combo. but biggest improvement is definitely pairing it with my liquid plat. but overall definitely an improvement over the more affordable dacs Im used to.
It’s a significant upgrade, and a worthy pairing. When I first got a Bifrost 2, I had an Asgard 2 and it was huge and very noticeable jump up from a Schiit Modi. I’ve since upgraded my amp as well, and the Asgard now does preamp duties to some powered speakers in another room…
@ Robson and @rice Very succinct and helpful, thank you. Many others have said good
things about the BF but I was looking for confirmation on this particular pairing. They do,
after all, LOOK like they belong together lol, tho most seem to be using it with better amps. I suppose I’ll have to take a picture to fit into this thread!
That’s a comfortable chair, the headrest adjusts and you can set the tension for the “tilt”. Congratulations
Haha yeah, I have way more built than that as well as unbuilt… Plamo is defnitely one of the hobbies that has suffered because of audio lol that and I just don’t have the space for a full workshop/spray booth etc.
Yes! It’s very comfortable, I have wanted a stressless recliner for a long time, and I finally just decided to go for it. Found a very good deal for one locally.
Hell yeah. Stressless is one way to rest off your ankle lol
Oh man that chair looks nice! Can I ask how much it costed?
Brand new they go for $3000, I got this one locally on facebook marketplace for $1000, very good condition, only about 3 years old purchased in 2019. I got super lucky because most of the ones you see used are trashed or the leather is not in good shape from not being taking care of.
Yeah no bro urs looks to be in awesome condition! That’s an awesome deal u snatched up there! Thanks for the info on the msrp too haha. But yeah bro gold to see that the owner cared for it because most chairs, sofas really get beat up to a point where it’s not worth buying used. So awesome to see the condition it’s in bro
This is inspirational! Nice setup!
If only the bf2 was 1 inch slimmer, or the lumin 1 inch wider. Going to try to keep trying the walnut. At worst it will serve as an “audiophile rock”
Is that a Small Green Computer linear power supply on the left? What are you powering with it? I really dig the quality and tunability of those supplies.
(I highly recommend the “electrical tape upgrade” for it, small piece of black electrical tape to cover the blazing blue LEDs works wonders! and it definitely improves sound quality - blacker background! )
Yes, it is! It is for the Lumin streamer. It was modded to take the power supply out of the streamer. Tbh the lumin and lps is brighter but it also doesnt face me so it doesnt bother me.
Ill also note that the readout is a good indicator that everything is warmed up when it goes from 12.1 to 12.0 everything is cooking.
A few days ago @DDT asked me what my BMR Philharmonic bookshelf speakers sounded like w/ my Exogal stack. “Fuck if I know, haven’t tried that combo.”, said I. Thus a mini tear down and new system build up ensued so I could take a listen and form an opinion.
Well, it’s been 4.5 days and about 30 hrs of much critical listening later and damned if I’m not seriously impressed and honest to gosh questioning some ideas I had firmly entrenched as facts in my mind.
Here is a quick picture of the “flavor of the week” (yes those are yoga blocks…)
I figure this is as good a place as any to add some generic thoughts and opinions…
1- the Exogal stack surprisingly requires about a 1/2 hour of proper warm up. I never noticed this before. It shouldn’t require warm up, common sense tells me it doesn’t need it. My ears say otherwise.
2- A short, well set up internet connection, good clean power, a decent streamer and decent DDC to clean up a USB interface all combined go a long way in enhancing your digital stream.
It’s true, fight amongst yourselves in denial if you choose to do so, I can clearly tell just how much this stack is scaling in performance from my other 3 system set-ups. Having 4 separate incrementally upgraded source chains allows for an educated, documented and easy to duplicate sound comparison experience.
3- I understand why Analogue front ends come in so many expensive varieties and why people spend so much money on such crazy and wild vinyl builds, crazy tape machines, SACD etc.
The source truly is the “heart” of your system. Streaming did not “fix” anything, it simply hid the potential of many pieces of equipment and allowed for a less expensive more generic sound playback ability to be enjoyed by the masses. You can’t get high quality digital audio playback from a generic source, the devil is in the details and the minutia…
4- A great soundstage will be a combination of your room, speakers and equipment all interacting together. This is where headphones rule, they take the room out of the equation BUT unfortunately require a synergistic combination of equipment for you to find your pleasure. 2 channel can do more w/ lesser pieces if you can get the room to add its part…(chew on that one for a while bitches
)
That’s it for now, I’m enjoying my equipment, I’m enjoying the music and I’m so very happy to have you all to share my rambling thoughts out loud
