My absolute favorite Queen song.
(And who doesn’t love David Bowie?)

Thanks for the introduction :+1:
I’ve spot listened to several tracks each off both Marillion albums you posted and I’m happily intrigued. Looking forward to getting time to listen play entire albums proper.

Pixies still sounding good! You see they are touring or were last time I clicked on their stuff? There were some live vids from some shows I was like ā€œno way, still got it going onā€

No way they will be in Las Vegas in May … hmmm Wonder if I can get all my work work done by then to take the time off…

Heck they will be near you in June - Columbus and Cincinnati anyway…

I have to be honest, I was ready to challenge you on this, because I didn’t like the Marillion remasters from the 90s, and didn’t expect the recent ones to be any better. But I was curious, because I also wasn’t a fan of the original CDs (first 4 albums) either, which sounded really thin compared the the vinyl.

And I agree with you, I like the deluxe versions of the first 4 Fish-era albums. I wish they’d kept some of the dynamic range of the master tape, because there is quite a bit of compression used, but on the other hand, some compression was needed IMO to beef up the sound.

Script For A Jester’s Tear and Fugazi were both remixes, and it took a while for my brain to appreciate the differences from the original album, but on the whole I thought they did a good job.

@Delta9K - depending on how much you’ve listened to already, here are some of my favorite songs, in case you’re interested. Note that the lead singer was replaced after 4 albums, and I’ve never forgiven them for that, so the band with the other singer is dead to me. :grinning:

Script For A Jester’s Tear:
Garden Party - hit single in the UK
Forgotten Sons - fantastic driving rhythm to this track
Script For A Jester’s Tear - a great example of 80s prog rock, very Genesis-sounding IMO

Fugazi:
Punch & Judy - UK hit single
Assassing - great energy and rhythm
Fugazi - similar to SOTJT, the title track has an epic prog rock feel to it

Misplaced Childhood:
Kayleigh - very poppy compared to their other songs, huge hit in the UK
Lavender - another hit single
Despite the singles, the album was really written as 2 long suites

Clutching At Straws:
My least favorite album. They were falling apart as a band and trying to deal with being treated like pop stars after the success of Misplaced Childhood. I don’t find it as melodic as the others, but it is still listenable to me.
Sugar Mice is my favorite song.

B’sides Themselves:
Marillion were one of those bands that wrote amazing B-sides that for some reason, didn’t make it onto the albums. This is a great compilation of non-album tracks IMO.
They’re in chronological order, so the songs get more commercial as you go along.
The first track, Grendel is regarded as a 17 minute classic of 80s prog, because it sounds so much like early Genesis. You’ll like, love or hate that song depending on how much you like prog. (I love it).
Lady Nina is a much shorter, much poppier song, and was a B-side from the Misplaced Childhood album. I guess it was left off because it didn’t fit into the concept of that album.

Not really an electronic music person, but I’ve been on a bit of a Tangerine Dream kick as of late.

Nice.

It can be surprising the level of recording quality with some electronic artists.

The earlier Jean Michel Jarre stuff is stellar.

Talking of recordings Iove
This sounds like the band were all in the same room and just played it, in the best possible way
