I’m not sure… but I ordered back in May so I assume it is the latest version. what’s the difference? I was not aware there was a v2

I think its new engine but i thought that started a long time ago in the b3. Maybe someone can correct me if im wrong though

The absolute newest version B3 will not have the hi-low switch. I also think, and waiting on @Towa to prove or disprove my suspicion that the newest newest B3 MAY have the screen in place of the button w/ the button below the DAC…
maybe, just maybe. I know about the first change but not sure about the second. Yes, it will have the newest engine but that has been for a while now.
Edited: well that picture proved beyond a doubt that all they did was remove the hi-low switch

They are including the screen from the pacific on the baltic 3 now, but only for units with the volume control

Once I saw a table that showed the Lampizator hierarchy by model number but I wasn’t really paying attention then. So real quick Q, how does the Golden Atlantic 1 rank vs an Amber 3 assuming same basic specs for i/o and engine etc. ?

Overall step up, pretty easily, although I never spent a ton of time with the atlantic as I did amber, but if you had to pick between the two, the ga is going to be def the one to have

Been talking to Fred at Lamp US and he said the Amber4 sounds better than the Atlantic 1 and obviously the Amber 3…
I haven’t pushed for what makes the Amber4 better or what they are comparing to the 3 that is better. Not sure I’m ready to commit - I get the feeling the would be happy to set me up with a balanced Amber 4 and I don’t want to lead them on unless ready to plunge if it tickles me right. I’m going to think about it for a while more.

Buying new is always a more serious commitment. The amber 4 isn’t in the arm and a leg territory so it won’t be as bad, but IMO there’s just so much cost savings going the used route. Whatever decision you wind up making I’m sure you won’t regret since you’re picking at this level of gear.

Don’t really have an opinion since I haven’t heard an Amber 4 or Atlantic 1.
If you buy a used Atlantic 1, you will likely lose less on it if you move up than on the Amber 4, just used vs new resale. My guess is the signature will also be quite different between them, the Altlantic 1 period Lampizators are a bit more “colored” and probably less technical as a result.
My limited experience with Fred is he’s a good guy, but he’s a big proponent of the “always be selling” mantra, though I don’t think he’d lie about his experience with the DAC’s.

The Atlantic 1 I was looking at, before shipping is right at the cost of a new A4 w/o any options added. There is another A 1 that is 1K less but also needs to ship from EU. I figured perhaps look at new then if in the same ball park as the used.

There was an Amber 4 on the EU site - actually all the used DACs I looked at were on the EU site and I asked Fred about those to see what was still available he said that the two locations handle their own, or its preferred to do so… Then he proceeded on with how much better the A4 was and that I could get it built they way I prefer (I want balanced). I did email the EU site but have had no replies in 11 days.
I think I’m just going to sit back and chill on the thought for a bit.
