Because its huge, heavy and doesnt fit on the desk.

I bought it when i was told our offer was accepted on a house with a huge back room, but before someone else told the realtor “we” dont want it.

Lol how long has it been in storage? If it was me I’d be damned if I would just leave that beauty sitting there collecting dust and depreciating in value, time to build a bigger desk :joy:

The storage is in my house but the flight case is so big and cumbersome. The whole package pushes 70-100 lbs.

There just is not space for “more desk” at the moment. It really needs its own furniture piece or a ground slab. Can’t do either where I am.

Believe me, it is a situation I am not the happiest about.

Damn that’s a bummer

At this point i just carefully watch where i step whenever i walk into my little “testing” room. It’s time to start getting rid of the dozens of empty boxes taking up all the closest space so i can at least cram the equipment not being used into a slightly safer spot. I wish and hope that these are the only worries we have for many many years…:crossed_fingers:

@Souldriver I would have set that large storage case on the floor, dropped the dac on top of it and had it up and going right in the middle of the room. I sincerely hope you get to enjoy it sooner rather than later…

I was going to do that just to test. But my “listening room” is also my bedroom, and wfh office. It’s not a big room.

I did think of selling it but the market would cost me a bit, and its not like i dont want it. But 100% the day i set it up is the day they announce the GA3 or something.

Tip for any horizon owners, you can remove the 2 right output tubes if you only operate in single ended mode, that way you aren’t burning 2 extra tubes you aren’t using. It does look kinda dumb having tubes only on the left side of the unit, but oh well I’ll take those savings lol. Pretty sure you could do that on the pacific, but I don’t know if it was the rear 2 or the right 2 for that (if you have a balanced pac)

Pro tip, this technique doesn’t work on your tube amplifier though. LOL

Yeah prob not lol, although I’m sure there’s some weird amp that would work like that

How did you figure that out BTW? is it in the manual? It’s a brilliant feature. Are all Horizons balanced?

Tip from the owner

Didn’t see it when I skimmed it, but it could be there

Yes

I think you take out the front ones on the Pacific, but I’d have to check.
It is nice that Lampizator specifically say you can chance tubes with the DAC powered on in the manual, though they do recommend you turn the volume down.

Yeahhhhh but I still never would do that lol, feels wrong. There are apparently people that leave the dac on with cheap tubes 24/7, than when they want to listen they swap in their nice ones lol

Guitar amps commonly can. It cuts the wattage in half to help with volume. Hifi is obviously very different.

I think only the rectifier, but I also wouldn’t take that chance.

Manual states on the Pacific at least they can all be hot swapped, with varying chances of audible noises.
I wouldn’t do it either, but it is an interesting feature.
