Oh so he has it and the new bliss. Cool.

He working for holo now too? I kid, I kid

Ahh, okay. That’s cool. I’m looking forward to more feedback. This seems like a logical upgrade for me. Hopefully he does a review of it in some form.

The Holo is starting out with a Pi core, so they’re equal there. The rest is going to come down to implementation. But given the standard of the Pi2 AES, and the bang for the buck they got out of that I’d not discount their Mercury V2 offering.

Maybe yes, but the streamer will have a USB out, the magic with the Holo DAC was with their USB in. Completely different animals. I’d love to see some more detail of the Holo PCB design and frankly I hope it’s a killer unit. We certainly need more quality bridge streamers in the market as there’s a big gaping hole between the $500 price point and the $2000 price point. It’s also going to have to compete with used streamers like the Lumin U1 Mini.

only kind of. They modified the pi fairly expensively so that the ethernet input talks directly to holos USB controller and bypasses most of the pi (im guessing this will limit software options but not sure). This is how they are able to do 1.5mhz streaming when pis are generally capped far far below that. Im also honestly guessing that bypassing as much of the pi as possible will help with sound, but well have to see on that one.

Plus, just on a personal note. Getting the holo USB in and clean up is a fairly attractive proposition just as a DDC its self. It may come out smooth and boring, but I think its got enough going for it right now that I am at least excited to see reviews.

He had one before Tim. I think he measures the devices for Jeff? But I’m not sure.

@Draaly apparently has the inside line…

The Red is available for Pre-order at Magna Hifi pricing is in Euro/GBP but you can convert -

Edit: I just wish we could get as detailed specs for the Holo Bliss as that are available for the Red…

Excellent price.

If it does both well (for the price I’d say at least Bluesound Node streamer quality and at least Singxer SU-6 DDC quality) then they have a winner for many.

Tbh I’m going to be fairly disappointed if it isn’t at least a full tier above the su-6

Even better then. Still probably doesn’t fit in my system but I’m rooting for them

Curb your expections, the SU-6 uses a thermostat controlled clock that’s about the size of a matchbox. You can compare it in this image against the size of the AES output.

Nothing near that level of sophistication on the Holo images that I’ve been able to find. This looks to be a streamer centric design with DDC functionality but I wouldn’t expect more than that.

We will have to see. The only measurement I know of so far (L7 audio lab) have jitter being lower than the su6 but tbh I don’t understand how exactly he is making the measurements tbh. At the very least it isn’t shitting the bed though, so I have some hope.

Do you know if golden has measured it yet?

I think only cursorily. I haven’t seen any graphs yet but he did say that jitter was inline with wd net and identical whether streaming or USB in (which would coorborate what L7 found). No idea when he plans to release a full measurement set

Oh, nice. It sounds like Holo did a good job with the Red.

I’m know measurements aren’t everything, but with something that is measurable like jitter it matters.

Seriously I agree. Black or for a Kitsune Edition the copper/black as on the DACs would be nice.

My whole thing here really is that I would like to test decrapifying my work PC usb out, and holo seems to know what they are doing with USB inputs in my experience. Going to be good for the price or not, at least it doesnt look broken or anything, so I figure its worth a shot. As always, just wait for reviews though if you can.

Plus, tbh, I kinda like the idea of trying red vs totaldac, red into totaldac, all those combos

darn I was really digging the idea of a holo streamer with a combined DDC built in. Then I found out it was pi based and won’t support amazon hd natively. sigh have to keep searching for a streamer.

Definitely will be interesting in hearing about your experience. I’m sure it’ll be an improvement as opposed to straight from your PC, how much is really the question.

With your chain you need something much more higher end and deserving as a streamer tbh
