Holo talk right here!
So, apparently there will be new USB modules for the Spring 3 KTE (maybe the other levels too). They are to fix issue with amd and pcm 1.5mhz. I have not yet confirmed this with Tim @ Kitsune, my source is another user (outside this forum) who has been waiting for over 5 weeks to receive his KTE. He found out the delay was they were waiting for the new modules and his KTE will be in the first batch to get them.
I’ll be emailing Tim to see if us early adopters of the Spring 3 KTE will get the new updated USB or not. I could fit the scenario as I run AMD procs/boards with AMD chipsets… I do not oversample or even work anything beyond 24/192, but I might want to…
What’s the issue exactly? It can’t playback pcm 1.5?
I’ve asked for more details and if there was anything posted online about it, or if he only found out through his back channel convo regarding why is unit his taking so long to ship - when I get a response I’ll let ya know.
That’s good to know, thanks for sharing the info!
Speaking of info, I heard the Holo Bliss will be priced slightly above the Serene which isn’t really a surprise but still good to know.
The Holo Audio USB fiasco escalates…
TL;DR looks like there is a new USB module replacing the Titanis 2.0 - this is what is currently holding up those who’ve ordered but not yet received Spring 3 KTE. They will be getting the new improved module us early adopters appear to be SOL… The main hook for me, the new USB apparently works with AMD chipsets now. I am limited to 512 DSD and 768 PCM - even though the specs for the KTE 3 show 1024 DSD and 1.5K PCM. Also, they had to have known they were going to be putting out a new module when they took our orders - no way, especially in these times of supply chain issues could they have done RnD, secure parts and manufacturing with in less than a month… Just sayen.
EDIT: PLEASE NOTE
I spoke with Tim (Kitsune/HoloAudio USA) directly over the phone. I will say that from our conversation, it’s quite apparent that there has been misinterpretation and too much of reading between the lines of information posted on the Spring3 KTE and new USB modules that sadly, myself may have helped to propagate. During our 40 minute conversation it was clear that that both Tim and Jeff care very much about audio, and even more about their products and customers. I am not going to elaborate on the details because I do not want to risk misquoting, or posting text that could be taken out of context to further fuel unnecessary debate.
Well that’s pretty shitty and unacceptable, I’d def reach out and ask if you can get that new module somehow
I mean you have to ask yourself if that matters though, do you have literally any music that gets that close to that limit? While that’s a weird limitation, I’m not sure if that one would really make a difference to the vast vast (and I mean vast) majority of people
Yeah for sure
I have wanted to experiment with DSD files and up-sampling - I haven’t yet because there have been issues getting it to work (now know a part of reason why) so I left it be intending to come back later. A rainy day project…
Also, according to an Alleged reply from Tim/Holo on the subject the new module is an improvement sonically as well.
Ah, you can do that yes, although 768 and 512 already should give lots of room for that, you don’t want to upsample too much, not everything can handle that well
Well that frickin sucks. I guess the argument could be made that we paid for the introductory prices instead of the full price. But still…
Not to be a whiny @#!$%^ but, there are some that also paid the introductory price who’ve yet to receive their DAC - and will be getting the upgraded module.
I have emailed (nicely I think) Tim to see what’s up.
Right, I missed that. I’d honestly be slightly pissed about this if it weren’t for the fact that I enjoy the Spring very much and have had no issues with everyday, functional use. I can’t really complain even if I want to. lol
Anyway, thanks for the updates. I could probably email him too, but I’ll let the spirit of my sentiment follow through on your email.
I dont think thats true. I talked to him about it yesterday and he said identical sound unless you can’t run 1.5 MHz. If you dont upsample or already run intel i wouldn’t worry about it at all. Plus, isn’t it only like $150 for the upgrade if you want it anyways?

Hey @M0N I recall you saying that the SE outputs on prior Springs were gimped, is it the same case when you had the May? Just wondering…
I think I actualy have se vs bal may measurements somewhere. Let me big around. But tldr was yah balanced is better hut not like se was a slouch
Edit: I cant seem to find them unfortunately
Yes that is the case, se was still enjoyable so it wasn’t like bad, but I would still hesitate to buy it if you were only going to use it single ended
Just noticed something on the Spring 3 pre-amp. I decided to lower the volume more than usual for more range of volume in my amp. Noticed it sounded a bit thinner than usual. I thought it was just in my head but I put it into what I normally set it at and not thin-sounding anymore. Don’t know if this is typical with DACs w/ pre but just thought I’d share…
Priced around serene w/ a release late this year last I heard…
And welcome to the forum!
Thank you . Sumeet hooked me up, and glad to be here. Thanks for tag on Holo thread too!!
