So I asked one guy who makes adapters and cables and this was his response maybe you can make something out of it:
Hi! The Susvara uses a TRS plug, but it is wired on the T and S only.
When building a cable for Susvara, I recommend using a TS plug or wiring a TRS plug. T positive, R and S shorted to negative.
Tried Susvara Unveilerd and its a machine, way different than Sus OG. Aggressive without being harsh, more treble energy, mid present in a good way. Every note is punchier than og and utopia, speed is crazy.
Subbass is more impactful. Stage size is about the same but maybe the OG is a hair wider but height and depth is better on Unv. More dynamic. Didn’t lose richness or density. Its not the same HP when people are saying no need to upgrade, its different and its an upgrade in all departments to my ears.
If you liked sus but wished for more energy and fun, this is it. I want to say it was slamming harder or close to 1266tc from memory, not 100% sure its been a while. But got fatigued from the slam and punch.
I liked unveiled with Chimera, but OG and Utopia with Nirvana. All 3 were on speaker taps of Aic.
Preferences were 1- Unv 2- Utopia 3-nothing so I guess I prefer energetic HPs.
Handling cups paranoia is exagerated. It was simple as long as you have a stand and no metal in your hands while handling.
I picked Aune sr7000 as temporary solution.
Pretty difficult to pick something higher end and maybe I keep Noir for home as this was cheap and solid reviews thus far
Many people didnt but I did really like the sr5000 in the sense of how easy they were to drive and how comfortable and ready to use they were out of the box, even with my VE abigail dongle that has only 35mw it sounded like it was driving them to like 85% of their maximum scalability, which was good, but also bad in a way that I have better headphones that scale more so I ended up selling the sr5000.
I was surprised that the sr7000 costed double the sr5000 when they came out, but I think they adressed all the “improvement points” I tought the sr5000 could improve by costing more.
I had 3 issues and I wanna ask you if the sr7000 fixed them all when they arrive.
Are the 7000 fully or mostly metallic?
If the plastic on the sr5000 was metallic instead it would have felt very very premium.
The pads were ok but they had that cheap “jeerze” material like hifiman the he400se.
The driver maxed out even with portables too easily, even if its a little harder to drive, if it can scale to the point that I could here improvements from say, an astell sp2000cu then Id be completely satisfied.
Based on Z reviews the build is the same so plastic. Pads should be different and so is the driver. 6moons review run it through some powerfull sources and they should scale to some extent so let’s see.
I have low expectations and I just need solid sound and comfort
Thats a shame, it would have looked and felt so much better and premium with some kind of metal at that price point, the sr5000 look great but feel so plasticky, and that design in particular I feel would really work with metal unlike sennheisers
But better pads and driver is all that it needed really, the price is a bit steep though, I would have medium expectations, definitely not low
Because the ar5000 would have been great with a better driver and pads
Thought I would write my about my listening session at a dealer some time ago, to listen to open back headphones. As my home situation is accommodating enough to use them now (kids growing up). Have been using closed back up till now. Currently using the DCA stealth with love. So curious what open back would bring and to use next to the DCA stealth.
Headphones are used at home with the Feliks audio envy, but dealer did not have that. Ended up listening with an airtight 300B speaker amp connected to an headphone conversion box.
The DCA expanse would be an obvious choice, but I want something to complement the stealth not the same thing.
Started with the Mysphere as its very popular on this forum and thought it would complement the Envy well. The fit was very tough. Only sat still on one spot on my head (with the pads next to ears), but this was widest part of my head which resulted in a vice grip feeling. Though the sound was, for a minute or two, very nice and full. Was fiddling with the placement to much to get good feeling of sound. A not sure conclusion so far.
Next up was the Solitaire P as suggested by the dealer. This one fitted my head like a glove from the get go. The sound was very nice as well. Different then the DCA stealth. More fun but still serious sound. Nothing sounded lacking. Only worry is the sensitivity is so high that I would have no play on the Envy for volume. Major contender conclusion.
Next up was the Immanis. This was the immediate wow factor. Everything sounded immense (as the name suggests). But after time my feeling was that everything was too much exaggerated, getting into the unnatural zone. It would certainly play well with the Envy. However concluding this is not for me. The Magna reads like it would be better to my taste.
Dealer suggested the susvara as the Envy was made with it in mind. But every time I hold it, I fear to break it and the sound was on the boring side. Also my time was up and had to go home.
I like the Stealth too, it’s been my main headphone for a couple of months now. It’s balanced sounding and really immersive since the soundstage pretty big despite being a closed back and imaging is really on point of the Stealth.
If you are looking to pair of headphone to play along with the Stealth, ever thought about a 300 ohm headphone since you have a tube amp? Maybe something like a HD600 or a dynamic headphone that like tube amps?
I came to the same conclusions after comparing the 2. I respected what the Immanis could technically do, but I enjoyed listening to music much more with the Magna.
It doesn’t have to be ZMF. Sennheiser HD600 or HD650 are still really good. But if you want something still pretty technical, Audio Technica ADX-5000 might be another good option. I heard audio-Technica might be showcasing a newer model this summer, so maybe be a lookout for those if your dealer get some.
Hey! What tubes are you using in the envy and what dac are you rinning. Getting a basic explanation of what you like about the stealth would help as well.
Honestly, all of your takes generaly line uo with mine on each of tjose headphones. Soli P would be a very solid and quote different compliment if you liked it, just expect it to be a little more energetic but have a little less natural stage on envy than the airtight.
As for the dyanmic recomendation, its a solid shout. Which ones i would recomend will depend on your tubes and dac, but adx5k, og utopia, and msybe some audio technica closed backs (depending on how funky you want to get) would be immediate thoughts for me
Well the first part is easy: Running the new Western Electric 300B in the Envy and my dac is the SW1X lvl3 balanced SP.
Now for the second part. Before the stealth I had a couple of closed backs which disappointed me because they either had a part of the FR subdued or enriched. The stealth has a even FR for me (not sure if this is the supposed harman target tuning) and that lets my brain not notpick and relax to enjoy the musical performance.
After that I found the stealth to scale well when introduced to each new piece of higher end gear I got.
Interesting way of looking at your issue. If the planar is giving you more depth, i see where you would come to that conclusion. In my own personal experience spatial depth, better separation and blackness to give that added depth have come more from finding certain front end combinations that then opened up the soundstage to me both front to back and width wise too.
I found @Souldriver ‘s CURRENT MOJO DAC to be particularly good at allowing the depth and width available in albums that are mastered well to really shine through w/ many a variety of HP styles. The Sonnet Pasithea DAC also excels in this manner which is why it has remained as a primary HP station piece for me longer than most. I also admit that i have cleaned up my signal even further forward of the stream plenty which adds to the added spatial abilities much more than any particular HP alone is able to reproduce on its own.
That’s me though, what my experience has been and my own particular desire to experience better spatial and dimensional presentation than average on my HP’s.
The Focal Utopia has excellent depth in my experience. It has a holographic and rounded stage and is the best dynamic driver headphone I personally heard.
My preferences lean planar for other additional reasons but I wouldn’t say one driver type is better than the other for this specifically. It’s a combination of headphone characteristic and the chain driving it.
