Just looking for general impressions on a few obscure cans if anyone has had hands on
Can’t find impressions on any of these outside of headi-fi realy so currious if anyone here has heard them and can give impressions
Is the Sony Z1R amp picky? It’d be paired with LTA MZ3
Does anyone know the going rate for a used LCD2 PF? Is $650 a fair price?
I paid $599 for mine last year, but $650 isn’t too bad IMO. Great headphone.
I’d say 650 is fair as long as it comes with pads in good condition, if you have to replace the pads that’s a bit high. But prices have been rising so that could be closer to the new going rate. Also if it has the upgraded suspension headband that also adds to the cost
Thank you both for the replies, I ended up talking him down to 620. No suspension strap, but the headphones and pads look like they are in pretty mint condition so I’m happy with it.
Are the k1000 worthwhile in modern day? I’m kinda currious given the current values but am vastly skeptical of just how good 30 year old cans can be…
No but the MySphere might be the most grossly underrated TOTL headphone on the market.
I’ve had mine 2 days, and I think I would pick it over the 1266 if I had to make a choice.
Also the headphone that is most grossly mischaracterized both reviews and user impressions that I’ve seen.
Agreed for sure, compared to the k1000, I’d honestly basically always take the mysphere over it
For most cases honestly yes
Absolutely
Also actually just ordered a 3.1 today to go along with my 3.2 since I was finally able to make a good enough excuse for myself lol
Which traits does it excel at that makes it better than the 1266?
Turns out I was vastly underestimating power requirements anyways so irrelevant question.
As for mysphere yall are making me regret missing that set for 2500 last week.
It’s hard to quantify, it’s a totally different experience, the overall presentation is just so natural.
@M0N ’s characterization of near field speakers is spot on, but it still stages like a headphone, and I’ve been trying to determine why I think it reminds me of speakers. I think it may be as simple as not firing the sound through a pressurized cup at my ears, the sound just flows differently. It’s a sort of effortlessness that headphones and IEM’s struggle with.
Midrange is very good, timbre and tonality are up there with the Susvara, Coupled with surprising Bass presence (which you wouldn’t expect from reviews/impressions), and it’s incredibly good for a surprising depth of genres. I would never have guessed it would work well with Metal, and it does.
I will say it can be an almost completely different headphone depending on the Amp, it can be mid centric, or have scooped out mids, I’ve never heard a headphone so amp dependent on what you are going to get.
Whats a good price for a used LCD XC with the bubinga cups? Theres currently one for like 860
Is this the right thread to ask that?
We actually have a thread specifically for questions like this here
https://forum.sonusapparatus.com/t/the-is-this-a-good-price-comparisons-database/209/23
@M0N sidenote it might be a good idea to pin that thread to the subforum as it wasn’t exactly easy to pick out among the rest.
Pinned
Anyone here heard solitaire P? No expectations for sus/1266 levels but currious how it stacks up against say d8kp as a potential portable solution.
How exactly do the 1266 og/phi/TC all stack up? I’m looking into an OG for a trade for some gear but I can’t seem to figure out how it stacks up against, say, d8kp or LCD-R. All I can realy find is that the mid trough has lessened over the revisions tbh
Easiest way to think of it is phi tc >> phi cc > phi >> og in terms of technical ability + overall refinement. No real ultra deviations in signature outside of getting more linear each time
Also a phi with cc pads is somewhat basically a phi cc sound wise iirc
They offered upgrades right up to the release of the TC didn’t they, I would assume those are no longer available and probably not cost effective anyway.
