Yamaha thread, YH-5000 / HA-L7A

Figured I’d get this started for Yamaha’s comeback to hi-end hps…

These look like the Utopia and D8KLE had a baby and this is the result.

Heard brise is making a specific cable for the yh5k, forgot where I read it tho. In any case, instant buy for me if ever I get my hands on these.

Also been reading some vague impressions… It sounds like it’s on the relaxed side of things with forward mids and warmth in the bass. Maybe meze kind of tuning or lcd5?

Seems less interesting to me if that’s the case but time will tell. That driver looks super interesting though. TSAV is supposed to have some on the way around end of January but there was no assurance from Yamaha. Anybody else know some Yamaha dealers?

Apparently the non-SE version is supposed to be around 385000 yen (~$3k). That’s quite the cut from the SE. Last I heard you won’t get the fancy stand, cables, and alternate pads with the non-SE. But who knows how long till we see it. The SE has been sold out everywhere and it looks like Yamaha can’t keep making them fast enough

Edit:
YH-5000SE 495,000 JPY
YH-5000 385,000 JPY
delta = 110,000 JPY

I feel like I owe you guys because of the shit tier list and the high end DAC comparison post. So I want to give back to this community just a little bit. So, I got some insider knowledge from a shop because I kept bugging him via text. I won’t say who and from what shop because I don’t want to get him in trouble or it might be wrong. Word on the street is that the Yamaha YH-5000SE will come out in retail in two to three weeks’ time. I don’t know if he mean it comes out in March 2023 or there is a two to three weeks wait period on ordering the Yamaha to shipping it out. But, take it as you will. It kinda make sense too if you think about it, I think they want to release the Yamaha Headphone after CanJam NYC 2023. Try to keep it in this forum since it doesn’t really goes out in Google. And if anyone ask you where you heard it from, please don’t say my name.

If this information turns out to be wrong, my bad.

I wonder when the non se version will come out… I don’t need all those extras, would rather slap a brise cable and call it a day lol

I tried getting information on the non se release date, but nothing. I don’t think the non-se version is even out in Japan yet so its probably going to be a while before we see a release date for the non-se version in the states.

I know SE stands for special edition. I just hope it’s not limited. There’s no way I can save up $5K next month :pensive:

Yeah. You book time slots with them and you get to audition gear for a few hours in a comfortable environments. It’s a great concept.

Saw Yamaha listed on Audio46’s lineup for NYC CanJam so I wonder if they’ll have one there…

Looks like you can finally buy the Yamaha YH-5000SE right now in USA

Only 3 in stocks btw

@hifiDJ

Definitely makes me think the RME was a very bad match to it. Might give it another try at audio46 in NYC one day if I have the time.
