Just the headphone section so far. Too much shit going on atm work wise, but I’ll get everything connected this weekend. No room treatment yet but that’s getting here soonish.
Just received the DACport HD. So far, it’s been a great sounding dongle DAC. Pretty impressed by how it compares to today’s dongle DACs.
There’s a weird thing tho. It doesn’t behave nicely with Foobar. No matter what the output is, it either doesn’t play, have clicks and pops or behaves weirdly when stopping the music. Fortunately everything is fine with MusicBee, JRiver and Roon.
My Morrow Audio MA4 w/pure harmony RCA interconnects just came in the mail. Very fancy looking indeed… time to hook ‘em up!
Immediate impression: definitely wider & deeper sound stage, more technical but not sharp (idk if that makes any sense, I can hear all the detail without any of the pain I guess lol), and definitely more detailed bass as well. Love what I’m hearing, gonna have to ditch my “Worlds Best” cables (not “worlds best” by a long shot after hearing these lol) and move over to morrow for my RCA needs in the future.
Not audio, but a toy is a toy
Keyboard is distinctly worse than my Matias quiet click but so much more usable on my sim rig…
I bought a Double Helix Complement C cable this afternoon.
Pics in a few weeks!!
ey! gz! You find one used? or buy new?
I’ve got one of those too, used it to play cyberpunk on the sofa. Although I had issues with latency at times.
Now you’re making me want a sim rig thread, I’ll need to get pictures of mine to share
Brand new. Headphone cables are a tough one used, if you’re looking for a particular config.
I didnt realize compliment C was a brand new design. TBH I thought it was fairly old even (with the C15 being the new version)
Just bought a pair of used Audeze LCD-XCs (2021) with a defect in one of the height adjusters for $799 from Ebay. Also just got my pair of HD800S yesterday
. I’m probably hitting up the sales thread to offload some stuff soon.
Blue Andros arrived from @elementze today, feel like I’m gonna end up with the kpop bug again like @Littledrummerboy
Finally able to order a chair from Ikea (stock issues, maybe?) after I put my dumbass through the back of my mesh chair over two years ago and glued it back in place in the meantime.
I really like the custom keyboard colors! What board is that? (Oh, and nice chair
)
Ducky One 2 Mecha Mini with these keycaps.
Bout time I finally make the plunge so I can actually listen to my vinyls. Was a really hard decision summing up which one to get but in the end. This us the one that called to me.
Hopefully now I can actually listen to the vinyls Ive been buying and just basically collecting

What a beaut she is.
I have to say most turntables these days are soo soooo pretty
Just put in a deposit for an Octave V40 SE. It was an interesting experience getting a proper hifi store experience for the first time! Experience posted below pic.
I only discovered this store because Octave listed it as an official dealer. Turns out they had just moved and are currently in the back of a beauty shop while waiting on more rooms to be built.
A nice guy by the name of Vu owns it and helped me out. He’s definitely a hi-fi guy. His room is treated with various sized vertical cylinders. All his gear is monster sized. He referred to the Octave V40 as “entry level”. Near the end he suggested swapping my electric outlet with an Audio Quest version. The intensity of audiophile was intimidating but he felt genuine. Despite all this, he was impressed with my choice of my first tube amp and said it was a lifetime buy so I’m optimistic.
He also suggested an Ayre Codex as a DAC choice. Anyone have any thoughts on that DAC? It’s a bit on the old side, but it gets good reviews where I can find them. ASR marked it as crap and people often compare it to the Yggy. Wondering how it fares in 2022.
And lastly, I finally got to listen to said audio setup in his listening room. From that listening session, I could tell the gear and speakers he picked were all about being neutral and detailed. The amount of smaller details were amazing. I could hear an extended decay in anything with reverb. Strings from a guitar that weren’t directly strummed were still heard either due to being brushed accidentally or by resonating from the other strings. Imaging was rock solid. Effortless volume and performance. The speakers were 86db sensitive and still never went over 30 watts, crazy. My GF didn’t like the sound at all lol. I can see why; as detailed and capable as they were, they didn’t engage me as much I hoped for. There was something missing, something that would’ve made it emotional, more believable maybe. That experience made it sink into me that detail isn’t everything and idk if it’s even most of the battle. Not sure. But I think I’ll be looking for the vague goal of engagement over any single factor now.
Yoooooo nice. Yeah going to a nicer store can be pretty interesting
2ch is a different realm for sure, goes much higher than you’d think
Ehhhhhhhhhh I’d wait on that lol
I personally think it’s fine, nothing to write home about, I’d put it about at or slightly above a bifrost 2, personally I’d want to go higher than that
That’s honestly the hardest part about audio, getting both the technical performance, and then presenting it in an engaging and believable way, typically most only do one or the other, those that do both right are harder to come by. But typically dealers will favor demos on systems more focused on technical ability, since that has more immediate wow factor
Yeah I’m with you. I personally don’t think replacing an outlet will unfuck electricity nor stop anything that’s sharing a power strip from messing up. I think I’ll leave the power source stuff for last if at all.
Yikes only “slightly above” the bifrost isn’t an appealing thought. My guess is that it fared better back 5-6 years ago when people were talking about it. I’m still gonna stick with the 2k range but there’s definitely better out there than “meh”.
