nah they will probably go. I didn’t plan to get og anyway. They were just part of the v550 pro bundle for very nice price. I guess I will give them a bit more time and move them to consolidate my budget a bit. New year is approaching so I need to be ready lol.

One reviewer called these a “headphone fan’s headphone,” and I tend to agree. I would also call them “euphonic” and “sophisticated.” One of their strongest suits is imaging - accurate and pleasing. I did end up unintentionally A/B’ing them with my Denon AH-D7200s, and asked myself “where the hell did the bass go” when I took off those thicc Denons and put on the HP-2s. But that was an unfair comparison, apples and oranges. After that brief moment of shock, I adapted quickly and fell back into the groove of loving these re-branded Kennerton Gjallarhorns. I’m very happy to have them in my collection, and they will enjoy probably more than an even time share in the rotation. Even though the cable terminates in 1/4 inch, I still love it. It’s a pretty nice cable. Oh, and they’re only 406 gm, a nice change from my desert ironwood Verité opens and my two Audezes (oof!).
Turns out a music stand also makes a pretty nice music apparatvs holder as well.

I received my Shanling EM5 yesterday. For my use case, I will mainly be using it for streaming, although it also accepts USB flash or hard drives, as well as micro SD cards for stored music. You can also set it up as a nas, but I won’t be doing that since I’m utilizing the Micro SD Card for storage. It has 2 digital outs (coaxial and Toslink). Toslink is going out to the Soekris dac1321 and coaxial is going out to the Bifrost 2. It also has rca and xlr outs if you want to use the internal DAC, which utilizes an AKM4493eq chip with FPGA. It also has 3 headphone outs (4 pin xlr balanced, 4.4mm balanced, and 1/4 inch single ended). So far, my only complaint is that the firmware update took like 20 minutes, lol.

But yes it’s sounding great so far. Every planar I’ve put on the taboo has sounded excellent (2pf, hekv2, 4z) and the 5 is following suit. Need a balanced cable and more time before I say too much.

This beauty just came in yesterday. Finally got to set it up and try it… wow. Will give my full thoughts once I have had this for a few days, but definitely enjoying it it! Glamor shots and thoughts to come soon. oh also have a rack coming because this thing is quite large and would like to have some desk space again lol

Been a while since posting anything, but have gotten a few new toys in over the last couple months. Pi2AES>Aqua La Voce S3>Crayon CHA-1, Danacable Lazuli Ultra>Susvara, Double Helix Molecule Elite 19>Mysphere 3.2, and Double Helix Complement C, along with a few DHC adapters.
And of course as soon as everything gets in, work gets crazy and I’ve barely had a chance to set everything up, and haven’t had much time to listen.

Picked it up a few weeks ago when I saw it pop up on HifiShark. Figured I might not see one again for quite a while, if at all, so bit the bullet. Was planning more toward something in the 13R/Formula/Luxman sort of range. I need to get a rack or shelf I can put next to my desk. With it being across the room and being tied to my desk more lately, I haven’t gotten to listen to it nearly as much as I’d like. Pretty stellar so far, though. It’s got that background blackness that is like an emptiness you can feel, and presents in a very natural way, with nothing coming across as exaggerated that I’ve noticed.
Still too early to feel like I can adequately give impressions.

New Verizon Optical Network Terminal installed directly in the main listening room, No more coaxial cable in the run w/ router within feet of the ONT now to minimize the feed to my streamer.

BHC power cable kit came in the mail today. I expected some assembly, but this is no joke. For some reason I thought the cable bundle itself would be assembled and I would just terminate it. Nope, we’re making cables boys! Red, black, and white wires… What could possibly go wrong…

This upgrade from Verizon also finally allowed me to get their fastest gig-a-bit plan. They insist I’m some kind of internet super-user, doing 200gigs a month or some such silliness, they yelled at me before and throttled me back and i just went out and got a MiFi w/ unlimited and dropped 100gigs on that to lessen the monthly load on the house line and they left me alone for a few years. They play that bullshit with everyone, they’re just angry i don’t use their cable services anymore, screw them. This new service is pretty fast though
