Have fun with all the beautiful toys .
The Lcd 2 looks good .
It’s small but it sounds 10 feet tall.
I got ifi ipower2 5v psu its a very convenient product with very nice build, includes a ton of adaptors that are also all compatible with my 24v RNPH psu.
Im not sure if the difference in sound I hear its real, but I do hear a change connected to my project pre box s2 dac compared to the included stock psu
I hear the bass and treble ends are a little smoother, but its a very small diffence.
A new month… just about so I bought myself an early Christmas present. I like to have a pair of on ears so that when I am generally using my pc I can hear things like my phone, the doorbell… my partner. I’ve been wanting to get something decent for this for ages and I could never quite make my mind up. Then I found an official retailer here in Belgium that still had over a hundred of the HD25 75th Anniversary special editions on sale at only a little more than the standard HD25.
I am impressed by how comfy they are. I like that I can lift one cup up off my ear to hear background things clearly. When both cups are worn the isolation is as good as an over ear headphone. There is some serious deep bass on these. Really nice, thick, punchy bass. There are still mids and highs but overall they sound much better than some more expensive headphones I’ve heard. I bought the ATH MS7Rb a couple of years ago. I still like them, they are nicely balanced and comfy. Great for general use but this HD25 is what I had hoped they were going to be. Very happy with them.
Also a new project to keep me busy over the winter:
Not all the parts are here yet but as stocks of a lot of things like mosfets are drying up I decided to gather all the parts now and worry about a case for it later. In order to be unnecessarily mysterious for pointless internet points I shall ask: anyone recognise it?
Whammy?
it’s a good amp for the cost, and a pretty enjoyable build.
Yes! I saw it mentioned on another thread and looked into it. I think I’ll have fun making it and learn a lot. So far I’ve only soldered keyboard pcbs, this will be a good next challenge.
Have your internet points!
Edit to add: actually I will be making a passive selector/preamp box next, then the Whammy.
You’ll be fine, it’s a pretty easy build, if you follow the basic steps from DIY Audio, it’s mostly about being detail oriented. You build and test the PSU first, then it’s pretty much put the smaller components in first.
When I built mine I had the circuit diagram printed out and just crossed off everything as I put it in the board, there are a couple of caps on the circuit diagram (with spaces on the board) you don’t end up using.
That’s awesome…make sure to update the forum during your build. It is always fun to follow along when somebody is building something or modding something.
That’s some good advice @Polygonhell , thank you. One of the things that I liked about the project is how well documented it is. I’m good with detail work when it is purely creative and my experience includes some technical document writing as well as creative things. I already spreadsheeted my components
Oh ok! I will do that. Were you interested in the passive selector box and the amp or just the amp? Anyone know where I can best post that?
Either just create a thread in here (General Discussions) or create threads in the appropriate sections.
Cables Tubes and Tweaks for the switch box.
Source Gear for the Amp.
If @M0N or I decide it’s not the right place we’ll just move it.
I am not sure I ever officially stated it (I think it was an assumed given), but I converted the D8000 Pro from being loaner to myself being an owner. No regrets !!!
I’m just a diy/build nerd with anything really, lol.
Have Fun with it,it looks beautiful i like him very.
Is one who i think about one Day .
Woah thats a sideways transformer cool stuff
Ey! I was wondering who grabbed that one
I don’t know what that means, but it sounds like something involving the Borg from Star Trek TNG.
Fantastic chain!!!
This setup is fun as hell and closer to life like that i have heard. Just awesome
