Red Bank, New Jersey is where the Bendix Factory was located. It’s just another buzzword that sellers use.
I dont know if they had another factory but Red Bank was where they made their best variants. But tbh most all Bendix are superb.
An gotcha. Well I made a really good offer on the brand new one and wasn’t expecting it to sell. Bought the $150ish one. A few hours later the other guy accepted my offer .
Guess I’ll compare the two and sell the one I don’t like as much?
Fav 6080 so far for me
Got the pair for $60 at a thrift store and the amp and stands have come along as a result . The cassettes were some grabs on Yahoo Auctions.
Replacement DAC is here!
@M.J
Nice setup! Looking forward to your impressions
Congratulations. Hope its a keeper this time
Nice! I hope this is a harmonious setup that you like! I love my V550(90), so maybe uDAC hits the sweet spot.
This arrived today, pretty much exactly 10 months to the day (yikes). Almost cancelled it, but every time i thought I’ve waited this long, I can wait a bit more!
Tungsten DS:
Way too soon, it sounds kind of “fun”. But as of right now, it is not a giant killer. So far, the DAC2 seems to pair better with the v550.
I may have discovered another factor affecting my chain as I chatted with Elementze. One week into spring, and my Berkeley + v550 have never sounded so magnificent, even with the HD800s. I’m thinking the winter season might be affecting my setup. Last year, I had the same issue with a different setup, where the sound was brittle and uncomfortable. I believe it could be the cold weather or power usage, as more people use heaters and such.
@Robson
You’re in for a treat with the v550, from what I’ve heard.
That wait is brutal. Mine came in a little bit faster at 8 months I think. I have SS and the hex grilles really make them a lot better in my opinion. I haven’t heard the DS so I’m not sure what they would do to it.
Nicked my rocks glass and I decided to splurge a little when getting a replacement. Kagami cut crystal, yeah this is the entry point because I couldn’t bring myself to plunk hundreds of dollars into a glass but holding this thing up to the sunlight, it’s amazing. My phone pics can’t do it justice.
With selling a few bits of surplus hifi gear recently, I decided to finally get back playing.
I haven’t ever liked electric kits, but they at least now sound decent. It will never replace the real thing but this is just a temporary measure until the next house when I have a basement.
Damn…where did you find those? I’ve gone looking for them on and off for years and never managed to run across a pair.
I just knew a guy that had one.
