Sony sscs5 was on sale for the first time in Canada for a while at its old MSRP. Should be a better pairing for the wiim amp than the very power hungry micca rb 42 I have paired with them currently

Awesome!
v550pro just arrived at my house today.
I consulted m0n and he gave me many good options, but after considering various conditions, I decided that this was the best option for me.

As someone who purchased the sibling of this amp at about the same time, I felt an affinity for @Robson.

Great looking unit! I loved the OG v550. I’m looking forward to hearing your impressions of its sound.

Nice pickup.
I purchased a v550 not long after it’s market debut and still have it to this day (listening with it as I type). Super enjoy it for its sound and build quality. It’s a solid piece of kit IMO and rather adaptive to various chain configurations and transducers.

The advice you gave me at HFG was also a big help in my decision. thank you!
This choice was made with the intention of introducing HEkse etc. in the future. I think it will be a while yet, but I’m looking forward to that time.

Very cool, congrats!

It’s way too soon for me to say much, but I am very impressed so far.

I’m not really interested in the DAC in mine, but I will try it out.

I’m using my Yggy OG, so I basically have a V550 for my use case, not the pro version. Even so, it’s build quality is superb, and it sounds really quite excellent so far.

More time needed though… :+1::grin:

Cancelled Sony sscs5 cause the miccas while not ear piercingly loud get loud enough paired with the Wiim Amp but does definitely get me there especially paired with my sub. Considering how good the audio DSP setting sounds using my phone’s mic I decided to get this guy as I am a new DSP convert. This is pretty cool

That’s a very good combination. I’ve seen comments in various places mentioning the complementary synergy of Yggi OG&v5x0. Congrats to you too!

I am combining it with exogal comet. I was worried that there might not be enough synergy because I couldn’t find any reviews using this combination.
Like you, it’s still too early to draw conclusions, but I already really like this combination!

Let’s enjoy new gear together! :+1:

I think i found my endgame solid state amp. I still can’t believe its sound, it is just ridiculous.

I have something wrong with me…

Even though I sold my HEkse two weeks ago, I have bought another. My autism can’t just let me enjoy HE-6, I have to A/B them…

I was doubly foolish as I sold my past year reference can (HEkse) just before I got the Goldenwave Prelude. Fortunately I have my longer standing reference, HD560s, to assess the amp; though they’re obviously not of the same tier.

Getting this HEkse in will allow me to fully understand the amp and put to rest any doubts in my mind which headphone suits my library better.

I’ve only had them side by side for the past hour, but my initial impressions are that I prefer the staging of HEkse (could be recency bias) and it does slam satisfactorily, even next to an OG 6s HE-6. On the other hand, HE-6 is more resolving (I didn’t think it was supposed to be!?), it’s tactility and slam is addicting, imagining is sharper, but I find it fatiguing during long listens (I do listen to heavy stuff most of the time).

This is gonna be tough :person_facepalming:

When a seller puts this much care into packaging it warms my heart
Old tubes are especially difficult to ship knowing full well that replacement of something over 75 yrs old ain’t gonna happen.
I could not ask for anything more, I know the fellow is trying hard to make sure I get a working tube. Good packaging, along with good filler material throughout to keep things from shifting around and decently crush proof.
RCA, Radiotron, UX-245 globe, matched as well as possible to the tube I blew out a few days ago. I got really lucky my seller had a small stash and he was happy to help me find a replacement :hugs:
