Like you know, I’m in a similar boat, recently purchased the dx260 and really liking the iBasso sound. And I’ve come to a similar conclusion: time to set it down, let it burn in, and then come back with critical listening. Hopefully by this weekend I’ll have enough burn in hours to be ready to start evaluating more carefully.
Looking forward to comparing notes. My guess is that the dx180 is going to really hold it’s weight compared to dx260, especially in price/performance ratio.
I’ve been around but super busy lately. Not a ton of listening time between finishing a room in my basement and work, but hopefully things are slowing down some.
Picked up the Diana DZ. It’s not bad, but MR still holds its own very well. Still trying to figure out which one I’ll keep but I’m leaning MR.
Also added the clock to my dac. Wasn’t the best timing but I was able to snag this for a solid price and I think it’s a nice addition. Need more time with it (had it for maybe 2 weeks?) but it’s definitely an improvement. Diminishing returns definitely kick in, but it’s still an improvement.
And I finished my office room in my basement. Built a nice little area for my son to game at and a work/listening area for me. Still waiting on some furniture pieces to come in but it’s coming together nicely. Desk came out pretty nice too. Need to get some more pics with better lighting. Soon!
I did the gen of cases after this. I forgot the name, the P ###. And its smaller than the Corsair i used before but mostly not as deep as its the furst without a drive bay.
Their newest cases with the curved glass is drool worthy. I need to not look at tech as i keep wanting to build new before my old stuff is old enough.
Haha yeah, some of the new cases look good. I’m gonna replace some of my pieces and give some to my son. Gonna build him a solid build soon. He’s been using a gaming laptop for a while now.
Second try at “me wanting to up my portable game”. The first time I had a Looto P6K but I ultimately decided to sell it to fund a couple upgrades for my desktop setup.
So far it’s been pretty great with my Tanchjim Oxygens, makes me regret a bit less about selling the P6K, although I still miss it quite a bit lol.
Pula PA02. Initial impression is that is sounds as dull in the upper minds as the FR would suggest. Currently burning in while I’m thinking of different music to throw at it.
I bought the 7th Acoustics Supernova from Bloom Audio! I really like the hand written Thank You Card and 2 pack of skittles, it makes me feel a little special . Looking forward to listening the Supernova iem though, I heard the cult following for this iem is pretty strong since it’s pretty hard to obtain.
Simgot 500LM - I had no desire to try these out with the Blon keeping me entertained, but I will put some hours on them tomorrow. Well, until the Comet Plus arrives. Then it’ll be the HEkse’s task to tell me what’s going on!
I’ve had the Z300s since launch and they’re not very detailed or anything, but I love them as a beater set and they’ll probably last forever with the heavy ass metal build. Something about the…I want to say roundness? of the bass that is super addicting, despite being a little sloppy
ok i needed sth for my office so i bought the Blon Z300 too.
it will be for casual listening so details are not my priority. i just hope the timber is good and it doesnt sound metallic.
it will be paired with my cayin n7, i hope it can scale
Comet Plus landed. Wow. I will have to sit with it for longer to get a full understanding of what I’m hearing, but the images are sharper, and, what I think may be a result of this, bass is far more directional than I have previously experienced. Bass is tighter and more well defined, too. Everything is more spacious.
I am always sceptical with new gear and am always poised to return/sell, but the 30 minutes I have listening to this has it staying
He could at least have splurged for the one of the Apple remote clones people now seem to ship with everything…
They at least don’t feel like he found them in a bargain bin somewhere.
Funnily enough I think the most premium feeling remote I have for “serious” audio gear is the one for the Jolida JD100, solid metal, with ball bearings for buttons, it weighs enough to kill someone with, though it does have one of the least though out ergonomic designs.
As a purveyor of Apple remotes, although simple it’s also limiting with non-Apple products.
I am lucky to still have a Logi Harmony Elite, and kicking myself for not buying a back up now that they have stopped selling them.
Now this is a multifunctional remote
In all seriousness, best remote included with a component has to be from my Coda pre-amp, they include an MX-40 Universal Learning remote. Older model yet very useful and functional and lights up too, though not able to wield as flogging device:
Well, one way or another an Ideon Audio Absolute Time USB & SPDIF reclocker is mine now. I’m going to play around with it for a few weeks on way way lesser equipment than it was built to work with, if nothing else to simply learn and gain experience.
If I don’t sell this piece off I know it will simply lead to further refinement of one of my systems. (and a whole lot more money spent)
It’s a heavy bastard
