This is a really good bang for your buck audio equipment. I recently just obtain a Schiit Midgard since I was always curious on this amp and this amp really impresses especially for its price range. It’s only been a night, but I used the Onkyo A800 for bass tracks and the Mysphere 3.2 for testing the soundstage and midrange. I only been using the XLR output which is the “Halo” output. So far, the Midgard provide those two headphones: controlled, but still fun hitting bass; good clean midrange with a nice touch of clarity; and it provides a nice “air” to the overall presentation. I say the only complaint I have so far in this short one night impression is that the midrange is a little thin than what I’m used to. But that’s about it, haven’t heard any glaring issues yet, which is really nice for around $200 bucks.
I guess to be fair, I am using cables that cost at least double of what the Midgard cost and my source (DAC/Streamer) is still buff and helping the Midgard sound as great as it do in my system. But at the same time, I didn’t really get the same results from my Magni Piety when I plugged it in, so the Midgard must be doing something right that I like with my current headphone collection.
Idk if budget amps is just getting much more impressive these days or if Schiit been really hitting it in the ball park with all their newest products so far… But what I do know is I’m looking forward to getting to know what this Schiit Midgard can do!
I’ve been putting together a headphone setup for a friend and the first piece came in: a Feliks Audio Echo MK2. I’ve owned the MK1 so I’m curious to hear the difference.
I’ve never regretted buying anything Schiit. Their cheaper products are reliably decent and sound good for the price. A Magnius was one of my first amps and it is still doing decent work on my partner’s desk.
Sorry to reply to such an old post, but i am watching all reviews i can find about the Modhouse Tungsten and i wanted to talk to actual owners. Do we have a dedicated thread for these in this forum? I could not find it if we do.
Anyways if you guys could help me with some impressions and comparisons i would really appreciate it!
The thing that got me the most confused about the reviews was how different WaveTheory’s take was on it, everybody says the Tungstens are super punchy with great bass impact similar to the HE6 OG, but WaveTheory says even the Arya Organic and the HE1000SE have more bass impact/slam than these.
If i have to pick ONE aspect of the sound presentation as my favorite it would be the bass impact for sure, my journey has always led me to cans which can deliver that (1266, HE6, LCD-4, etc…).
It seems we have a consensus about the technical abilities of the Tungsten, but how do you guys feel about WaveTheory’s impressions? Btw, he also said that the OOR + HYPSOS is not a punchy amp, i have one and i always thought it was?
Really curious about what are your experiences with these.
Nothing, for now… I emailed the ZMF Team that I wanted a wooden case similar when I bought the Caldera from them and they told me they didn’t have any left. But, they do have some b-stock wooden cases from last November. They gave me a fantastic discounted price for this wooden case. Fast forward, it arrives and it looks really awesome and honestly don’t really look too much of a B-stock product to me! There might be some natural wood blemishes here and there, but I think it adds flavor to the looks!
For now, I guess I will just store my ZMF ownership card of when I bought the Caldera here. Maybe I should get a ZMF headphone to match this casing
Same, I think it adds character and it’s just part of the fact that wood is a natural, living thing.
Regarding their B-stock, I purchased a stabilized maple burl B-stock Eikon (new iteration) last winter. Same type of thing as the box, it has very small knots that have been filled. It looks beautiful. If they hadn’t flagged it as “B-stock” I would never have known. Their standards for A-stock are very high.
I’ve always wanted a box like this and when the Bocote Atrium came out last year with the box I went for it.
I think they go beautifully with the Zmf headphones and I think it’s a shame that Zmf doesn’t offer more of them.
Although they said they were reintroducing it, I have seen it less and less with the LTD.
I would love to buy these with any Zmf instead of the Seahorse.
I can’t do anything with it except that it’s a dust catcher or placeholder for the pads that come with it.
Rofl. Not mine, just in house (owner is fairly private so i dont plan to dox them, sorry). And no sus unveiled. Ill tey it when i get a chance, but not super hype about it until i actuaky hear one
