Had a pallet of flooring delivered yesterday. Going to redo the floors in a couple weeks and this was delivered by FedEx freight in less than a week with a Monday holiday faster than most packages I’ve ordered. A neighbor helped me bring it inside so it could acclimate and luckily there was a window of no rain for the delivery and when I brought it inside.
Other audio related purchases from a while back
My girls (10 & 13) have got into records (not by me). I didn’t have a turntable. So I grabbed one of these, I did absolutely no research or looked at anything else so it may very well be crap.
I bought a pair of baby alnico monitors (BAM) in French walnut from Omega Loudspeakers today. Picture below is not my pair, but the same speaker in the same finish to give an idea of what they will look like
It’s a smaller version of the compact alnico monitor (CAM) with slimmer bezels and a front base port using their 6.5 inch alnico driver. Louis told me this is the model that will be replacing the super 3 high output and super 7 in their lineup.
I’m super excited to get these babies in and singing, this might actually be the beginning of a new chapter for me… I got out of the audio game for nearly a year but I have a feeling I’m about to get pulled back in
I also bought three more of the full size Ikea Billy bookcases this morning for my growing library… (now over 1600 books and counting…)
and a monoprice TV stand mount from amazon.
In the next few weeks I’m going to do a major rearrange in my room to make more space to shelf my book library but also it is going to open the room up to better accommodate a speaker configuration for both my desk near field setup and a more traditional near/mid field setup in the future.
Books make for some decent room treatment right?
Edit: also just purchased some isoacoustics stands for my desk to use with the new speakers
I’ve had these for a couple days. Initial impressions are pretty positive. MJ3 does a solid job IMO. Definitely need to use the 6v option from the DAC vs 2v.
They’re a pretty neutral headphone. I don’t have the Susvara side by side but I can see/ hear the similarities. Not as much impact as the Utopia, and doesn’t seem to have as much sub bass as the Susvara from memory but still very good overall for the price.
The stage width and depth are very good off my chain. The layering is also another standout. Timbre seems very good too.
Makes me wonder how the Sus would do off this chain….
I did lol. Gotta try, right? It’s not terrible. Still have to use the 6v from the DAC. Gets plenty loud enough. I think the MJ3 is a better option. I’ll try it again to see how my brain has adjusted since the first day.
I got this gorgeous headphone stand in today from our very own @Souldriver , the combination of natural wood and the metal stanchion and feet gives it a really nice contrasting look.
