Since l’ve been putzing around with tubes lately, I now know those are triple mica short black plates… don’t know the name of the getter though, so I’m going to go with shed roof getter.

When times are bad, like no internet, you might be glad to have a vinyl player.

Mine are not first pressings, I just wanted them because she is a great female singer.

Looks like a D getter, which in 6DJ8/6922 is a top find

These are 6385s, or Bendix’s “better” 2c51/396a. Same compatibility, but a little taller.

Not an especially exciting purchase from an audiophile perspective, but I picked up a low-ohm Beyer DT 770 to use as a monitoring headphone:

Too much…
Diana V1 /w V2 drivers and V3 pads - pads are well worn but the price was too good to pass it up
Mojo 2 - very good looking in the leather case
Thieaudio Clairvoyance - fits me well, decent pairing with Mojo 2
TH 900 Mk1 - had to renew pads, makes E-MU Teak obsolete imo
Clear OG - gonna compare to Aurorus Borealis, then sell one of them
Dunu SA6 - doesn’t fit, too small

Couple of updates, my noisy Tyr finally made it to Schiit. Part of me hopes they just give me a brand new one, but at the same time I don’t want to juggle my odds and end up with another with the same problem lol. I guess we’ll see what happens when the fixed or replacement Tyr comes back.

In the meantime I have reintegrated my aegirs into my system, and the first thing I noticed was the heat in my room lol. As for sound there was a definite narrowing of the soundstage and decrease in technicalities, less pronounced voices and less speed/punch. Drum hits sound softer (or maybe slower?), oh and I no longer have as much headroom but that’s not really a sound thing.

However despite the negatives the aegirs still sound really good, and I’d happily recommend them to someone looking to drive crazy power hungry planars (like the HE6) and/or speakers with a budget of 1600 (can be found used for 1k). But If you don’t have excessively power hungry headphones, the Mjolnir 3 is probably a better choice than aegirs for headphone only use (in this price range). I haven’t heard it yet, but I trust @Christof’s “almost as good as Tyrs” assessment of the MJ3.

As for why I am posting in this thread I decided to give in and return to the cult of Roon. Despite having firsthand experience comparing the SQ of Roon to LMS/Squeeze, the features of Roon were enough to entice me back into the fold lol. And after only a few weeks of using Roon again I decided I’d just keep using it and bought the lifetime license (20% off sale also helped push me over the edge). LMS/Squeeze still has a place in my heart and worked fairly well while I was using it, but its got a long way to go to being as user friendly and well integrated with 3rd party services as Roon is. And since LMS/Squeeze is freeware, updates could just stop indefinitely at any time (there are multiple plugins that already have). While you could say the same about Roon if they were to go bankrupt or something, for the time being Roon gives me the superior music listening experience, and that’s why I’ll be sticking with it from now on.

Side criticism about LMS/Squeeze (or maybe the ultraRendu?). For some reason music wouldn’t play whenever I turned my Amber 3 off and then on again, it would only start working once I restarted the Squeeze service on my ultraRendu. This quickly became annoying since I turn my Amber 3 off at night, and then on again most mornings I’m in my office. Maybe this is more of an ultraRendu thing, since it wasn’t a problem while I was using the raspberry pi 4 for Squeeze playback. But since Roon doesn’t give me this issue with my ultraRendu, it’s just one more reason to enjoy switching back lol.

Returning to the topic of this thread, I have some other stuff coming as well. I bought a Plixir Elite BDC Dual (tuned to 7.5V) that’ll be powering my ultraRendu, and a USB Isolator I’m going to try out. If I don’t end up liking the isolator I’ll use the additional power output of the Elite BDC for my EtherREGEN instead. But if I do end up liking the isolator the EtherREGEN will get the SGC power supply.

Annnd that’s about it, will post an update/pics once stuff arrives. Hope everyone is having a good week!

are you going to be using the isolator between the ultraRendu and the Amber? Curious to hear what you think. Given the ultraRendu’s USB out should be very “clean”

On another note and in the spirit of removing boxes. If you happen to come across an opticalRendu, you can eliminate the EtherREGEN and thus not need second power supply. When you do a cost breakdown, you may wind up getting a bit of a performance boost for less money.

I don’t even have a table but this was a must

Yes that is the plan for the isolator, maybe it’ll make things sound better (or worse lol), we’ll see.

If I do end up upgrading to an optical or signature Rendu in the future, I’ll probably still have the EtherREGEN act as a dedicated switch separating my audio equipment from the rest of the stuff on my network (I think I’d use it in the reverse direction, inputting the “dirty” connection to my network on the B side and using the A side to connect my Roon core and Rendu). But I’d definitely try taking the regen out of the chain to see what I prefer.

I second this man, i sometimes make the mistake of mentioning a cable in some of the groups i am part of and it is impressive how it triggers the absolute worse on people.

I get redicularized by people who joined the hobby like 2 years ago and never heard anything higher than a Sundara on a Schiit Magni :frowning:

Wonders of sticking RF transmitters on a device used to drive audio equipment.
Aren’t they just Bluetooth?
I’m actually a bit surprised it’s audible, on anything outside a really picky tube amp.

I went all wireless then back to all wired, but it had more to do with hating the days the batteries ran out.

2.4ghz for both. They were audible when directly next to my usb cable to my dac, but luckily the noise stopped when i moved them to the front of my PC instead of the back.

These went to snake river for repair before comming to me, but i didnt expect them to be packed as new. Thats awesome.

Nice, that’s a really good deal you got there! You got pretty much new cables for over 50% off. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did, cause those Snake River Audio cables are awesome!
