No playback on the Innuos. It is only a ripper
Alice In Chains Unplugged is freaking amazing! Up there with Nirvana Unplugged.
No love for Eric?
I really like his too.
I picked up Rumours to see how it compares to a DSD version I have already. Pretty good.
Rumours needs no introduction, but the AIC unplugged is a legend. Not only for the music but the lore behind it. Nutshell is heavily played in my rotation and i use it often as a test track. One of the few albums i pursued again to get the highest quality version of since i originally only had an mp3 rip.
Seems weird to have the drive but not allow direct playback without ripping first ![]()
Some of us (who may or may not be hoarders) have several shelves with double-stacked piles of CDs bought since the 80s. Slowly going through the entire collection and re-ripping into flac.
Looking at this makes me wonder why I kept the Lou Gramm CD (because I’m a hoarder) or have 2 copies of Flaming Lips’ Soft Bulletin (because one was my wife’s and also, what if I scratch one, and also, I’m a hoarder). It’s an interesting peek into my various musical journeys, where I have Britney Fox, from my hair metal phase, next to Breeders and Brainiac. And yes, they are alphabetized.
Eric is in a class of his own, all those albums are a good haul!
There is a growing fan base for 80s CDs the original AAD conversions taken from masters. One of the things I’ve noticed with all of my 80’s CDs is that they have a lot more headroom than the straight hedge wall that a lot of newer CD from the mid 90s to hear 2000s tend to have.
I have a lot of DJ and promo CD that you just can’t stream anywhere today so the box has stayed. Ready for the post apocalypse world without the internet dystopian hell, with Audiophile style.
The Dire Straits album I picked up has crazy dynamic range. So good. It’s a Japan press.
Loudness Wars, I went through a phase re-buying re-masters from the 00’s thinking they would be better. Nope, they were shite
Hello Nasty is worth the double copy.
Also while I love having an album and the art, I am way past wanting to manage storing them all.
I should hope so, you’d never find anything otherwise! ![]()
That looks like a seriously nice collection, it would be a blast to look through them all.
Since you have them alphabetized, I have a business idea for you. Why not post a list of your disc library here, and rent them out to members! It would be like old-school Netflix DVD rentals. Get those discs earning their keep, and generating some retirement income for you! Great idea, right? ![]()
Of course I’m kidding… ![]()
LOL, there are several thousand CDs. I remember it took me weeks to sort them into alphabetical order and I had to do it while my wife was away on business because I had stacks of CDs spread throughout our family room, trying to get it done before she came back. I can’t even imagine how long it would take me to catalogue them, although I suppose I’m doing that by ripping them.
I know you’re kidding, but it does make me wonder how much some of these are worth as I have many out of print albums.
The next time we have a get together of a handful of members. I know we haven’t done that yet in earnest but in a post Covid world the possibility is getting more likely.
We can bring our boxes of CDs for trade or on site ripping. lol
I am afraid of snakes, or any lizard, yet somehow I now have two snakes at home. Second snake in the AES variant slithered into my house today thanks to a buddy who let me buy it off him. I owe him a few adult beverages ![]()
Just in time. Make sure it is installed in the right direction.
Dammit I forgot. But don’t know which way the USB lift switch goes, but if you’re not using USB you should turn on the USB lift. Basically disables power to the USB board, less noise. I completely forgot to test that! Grumble grumble.
I was going to ask if anyone tested the usb and ground lifts. Their directions are in the manual. I think the usb and ground go different ways for on/off
