This doesn’t look like the neutopia. This looks like the old utopias with the 2020 accessory package. The neutopia should be labeled 2022, not 2020. I would shoot them a message to confirm you got the right thing
Ah, no, I mean new utopia, as in, it’s new, I purposefully didn’t buy the 2022 version and got the older one instead.
Still need more time and tube burn in but I think it may be a keeper? Probably going to have to buy some Elrogs and a different set of driver tubes to get some detail and air back in the signature but this is pretty cool so far. Kinda neat to see how it works with the Utopia 22 and Susvara.
The build quality is insane.
From Poland, with Love?
Oh! Got! Gz on the pickup then!
Congrats! At $8k I hope that would be a keeper! Nice wood choice
Thank you. Unfortunately, I may have to spend a little more to get the preferred sound I want. But I guess that’s normal with tube amps lol. I think once I get the right tubes for me I’ll be happy.
TBH not really, I’ll be interested to hear how much you manage to tilt it with tubes.
Better designs generally vary less with the tube, you can still push them in one direction or other, but it’s not likely to be night and day. Too much of the sound is in the design and the other component choices (most notably transformers and chokes).
Is it tube rectified? because that would be your best bet for a significant change.
Also those PSVane input tubes will take hundreds of hours to settle into what they sound like.
Hell yes, time for those WE 300B!!
I have an Elrog rectifier, and will say its price is worth the upgrade. I was hesitant to pay that much for one tube, until I listened to it. I imagine this translates across the rest of the tube line up by them ( according to posts in an other forum)
I think I’ll go Elrog for the 300b. The WE 300b seem to be a little too warm from what I’m hearing.
It’s ss rectified. I don’t hate the overall signature. I want to add a bit of crispness and hope to get some vividness back into the images. Not all the image is dull, just some areas (this is nitpicking too). But that’s also a trade off for the large image, strong weight in the notes, etc. From what I’m seeing, is the Elrog ER will help and to increase the extension on both ends even more, the Elrog MO is even better. As they should be, they’re 1k more.
That’s a gorgeous amp.
I bet changing the tubes will yield a significant difference. If I’m remembering correctly changing the rectifier made a difference in the DNA. I bet you’ll likely hear similar results with the Feliks.
Eyes like a hawk
I needed a usb cable and I found an older version (2.0) of the iFi Mercury. I wanted something short since it’s for mobile/transportable use and this was perfect at .5m.
Hello,
try replacing the 6SN7 Ps vane when you get a chance.
They are tonally very neutral and cold as well as flat.
The other side is that they take quite a long time to burn in.
Minimum 300h+,and in that time you will always experience downswings which can be begrudging.
Had that problem on the Euforia even though it’s a different amp.I didn’t find them good from a personal point of view.
You can try the Linlai, they also have 300B tubes by the way.
Otherwise, search the 6SN7 Nos market, there are still plenty available at the moment, unfortunately sometimes at outrageous prices.
So watch out.
Otherwise, a beautiful and noble amplifier where you have, one may be a little envious of it,
Appreciate the help! I just picked up a pair of Elrogs so hopefully they’ll help improve things. the stock tubes aren’t bad and I’m sure with the burn in they’ll be ok. I was told to look for some Melz so I’m looking for those, but those are tough to get. Also may look for some Mullard ECC32.
Convincing myself to own more than one keyboard is even harder for me than owning more than a few headphones. I’d love to get a larger one than my QK65 but can’t get myself to justify the cost.
