Journey to find my next daily headphone continues, will the Utopia 2022 replace the Susvara? Will it join it instead?

I sold the HEKse to get this, hope it does better.

And this little friend also showed up earlier. Green light reminds me of Star Wars for some reason not sure why…

Hello,
My first 2 Iem’s.
The Z 12 from Letshouer I have a little longer (ca.1 1/2 weeks) and is now played in from the Burn in her.

The second one came very unexpectedly, it’s used and the offer was very good, it just came in recently.
For $125 I didn’t go wrong, used to cost £400 new and was limited to 300.

It’s the IMR Acustics R2 Red.

I’m really impressed with the IMR and it makes the Z12 look old.
It’s much more moving, emotional, deep, gripping, great detail and space.
Also the possibility to adjust the sound with the filters and tubes in the bass and midrange/treble range is another feature to tune the whole thing to its tips.
At that time, the R2 Red cost twice as much as the Z12, which is certainly a difference among Iems.

The Z12 is not necessarily bad either, but I can’t get a planar headphone sound.
I’m sure it’s even better than Planar Iem.
But it’s absolutely OK for a start.
It plays contrary to the R2 Red, and needs a brighter tuning in the amplification for it to perform.
Especially if you use the foam tips.
With the Spintfits C145 it is also well balanced and better than with the Foamtips.
The scope of delivery in the Z12 is okay, but the foam tips were unusable for me and I had to replace them, which was a pity.
They are much too soft and crush in the ear.
And they sounded too deep to me, with other quality foam tips it had been much better.
With the R2 Red it didn’t matter, it played creamy with the Spinfits and Foamtips.

What surprised me was that both played wonderfully on the Feliks Euforia without flinching.
Both benefited a lot, the Z12 played a good bit better than on the Ifi Hip 2 and the SS Amp.
Both were also very good on the hybrid amp, both benefited there as well.
The Z12 definitely needed a burn in of 100h until it showed what it can do.

Is that an amp in the background of the first image with DHT tubes?

Hello,

No these are the Linlai tubes 6SN7,the Elite version.
Amplifier is a hybrid created by Whitebirdamplification.
Rather it was a concept of me and the builder.

Finally got my hands on a AQ Carbon I bought last week:

So far, in the first 30 minutes of listening, impressions are positive. Music sounds more focused, with a better separation than before. Also there are more nuances, more “microdetail” I would say.

I also noted other things but I need to give it more time to think about them.
Overall I’m satisfied.

Solid state desktop setup is alive and kicking.
Found a Audioquest Carbon USB lying around here and some generic red interconnects from Apos Audio to complete the rig for now.

Kind of traded my Node for the BF2 so feel like that was a good move for what I needed here.

…so I had been seeing a lot of pre 2020 red cocobolo LCD XC on head fi classifieds, they are gorgeous I love their sound (with some EQ) so I thought why not

Then I remembered Audio technica also has a gorgeous red pair around the same price as those (800 used), the choice was obvious for me. AWAS.
