I have always used 1 subwoofer with my 2 channel speaker set-up. The audiophile community most often recommends a pair of matched subwoofers instead, thus I purchased a matched pair to use now. This is the matched pair.
@Gordon_Freeman
New digital coax cable to run from DDC to BF2, replacing a generic one. Can I just say, you lot are terrible. I feel like there is a difference. I don’t like that I do but I do. So now I am stuck with that and I have to think about digital cables more than I want to
The difference I think I experience is granularity. It feels like there is a little bit more detail to individual notes. Which sounds silly to me when I say it but there you go. That’s how I feel.
That aside, good cable, stiff but not averse to following a curve, nice tight connections. It wasn’t a super expensive one, costing me about 30 Euros.
I have liked the Pangeas ive tried. Which is really just a usb for my bf2. But for $25 i think its a great first step “real cable”. And like you i feel like i hear the same thing, that tiny bit more detail. Granular but there.
The cables don’t have to be expensive to be different. That’s the interesting thing, and more expensive does not guarantee “better” just different. But yes, some more expensive are better at least in my system, my experience.
…it all boils down to eventually buying an FTA Calisto. Save your euros.
Q. what’s the general term for Euro in 0.01 0.05 0.10 .25 denominations?
I do different EU countries have different local or slang terms for them?
So in the US, we’ve got penny, nickle, dime, quarter and half dollar.
That’s cents (0,02 euro are 2 cents)
That’s a lot of languages you’re asking about! At least in German I don’t know of any other terms (we’re keeping it easy )
We’ve got most of the languages covered!
Same in Dutch, I think it’s still too new for much slang to have developed. Some people still tell you values in Francs which is frankly (lol) just weird now.
Well now I feel less crazy, that’s interesting to know.
I do like that I can get bang for buck for cables with a cost scaled to my budget and gear. Makes it at least a fun deep dive to get in to! Once I work out a USB to Coax solution I want to make my own USB cable - I’m looking at a Singxer F-1 or an OEM version of it, if anyone has any experience of that.
Its funny as on other forums and basically everyone that gets to that level goes FTA Calisto. There are steps after that but those are usually 5 figure new car money.
The next step is obviously the FTA Sinope
@Towa Not necessarily… at this point I would need to hear that (Sinope) USB cable in my system to make the decision. The Callisto for me offers a particular sense of openness, soundstage width and lower end grunt that sits just right w/ me. It’s ever so light in what it brings out in the music but it does it just right and that’s not often the case with every swap and upgrade.
Sometimes you just need to be happy and enjoy.
Congratulations on everything! That’s a very big boy amp…huuuuge!
Also, the speaker stands look good…and i see some sort of feet on them…
That’s a chonky system end to end lol
Looks great congrats
Isoacoustics gaia 1. Good stuff
You didn’t have the ModWrights for long! Def want to hear about the Ayre though, I’m completely happy with the LTA but you know, the hobby and maybe a tube free life at some point?
BTW, the foam noodles are a nice touch.
I gotta tell my Roomba, “You shall not pass!”
I was thinking, kids, pets… The Roomba, that makes sense. lol
I picked up Eskamobob1’s Intona USB isolator from the sale thread! (This is also not my first time buying from Esk, I recommend them as a seller.)
The USB audio from my MacBook Pro was super-stuttery at first, with or without the isolator, and then somewhere over the last couple days, it fixed itself and now the isolator and the MacBook are getting along? So no idea what’s up, but the isolator works great in general, and seems to be cooperating with my MacBook now too, so I’m pretty happy with it.
(P.S. I still plan on using streamers for most of my music-listening, but there are a lot of instances where being able to switch to my computer audio is useful!)
+1 A++ seller.
