Welcome to the Mojo club.
@Veritas I’m curious what you think of the 46 step volume control My big amp has a 64 step and i had it attenuated 6db so i can use HP’s too once in a blue moon and have enough headroom, which it absolutely does along w/ buying me some leeway for minimizing hiss. Does the 46 step offer you enough “wiggle room” for the dynamics and headroom you are used to? I’m assuming 46 steps is allot less volume control, than you are used to.
. The 1/2 db increases are a nice touch
We’ll see. It’s a cool nerdy thing to have and see. It’ll be weird to transition from a large smooth alps pot to a stepped attenuator though
Once you go stepped you can’t go back. I’m not a fan of the “more is more” approach when it comes to too many steps, the control is nice but there are easier ways to attenuate without having to go through a ton of steps.
One nice thing the LTA does is an ability to switch from 100 to 199 steps on the volume control. They call it audiophile adjustment. I tried it once, never went back to it.
I’m familiar with TRM. Long waiting lines for awesome knives, lol.
Gorgeous scales on yours!! Congrats. 20 cv? (I don’t have one… .)
@TempoTim There are a few pieces of one model available at this exact moment, i bet money those too will be sold out in 24hrs. I tried to purchase the original Neutron years ago. LOL, it took me so long to stumble upon one they are on the version 2….
@NickMimi Ha, yes the Other “Nick effect,” lol. These days knife money is
going to audio gear!
Woo-hoo!
It arrived and it’s splendid. I already have a buyer for the Enleum but haven’t decided if I’m selling it. I love that little amp. Maybe I’ll stay with both at least until March when the Zahl arrives. Ugh.
Thank you @Rhodey for a nice conversation, and good deal.
Ask your buyer if they want a 13r instead of a 23
I notice it’s in high gain mode.
FWIW i couldn’t tell the difference (other than volume level) between low and high gain modes, so I leave mine in low gain, for a better control of the volume.
I actually asked woo what the gain switch does, they were pretty coy, only saying it doesn’t affect the sound, my guess is it’s just attenuating the input at the pot, so just giving you more volume range.
Thanks for the info. I also don’t recall much difference in sound with my previous WA33 between the gains but I’ll try both over the next few weeks. With my headphones you don’t really need a lot of volume control, just a lot of power lol but I’ll let the actual experience dictate that
I love your chutzpah.
Second appearance here today. Good day I’d say.
But this is a great example of a few hundred dollars I wouldn’t have spent if I hadn’t joined this forum.
Should I try it through the SU-6 or directly from streamer to DAC?
Try straight to dac first, then use it on the ddc…then go get a better ddc haha
Savage
I bought this to (hopefully) get rid of the DDC!
Why do you need a ddc if you have a streamer? What streamer is it?
Try both but if it’s character shines through in your system then you should at least enjoy direct streamer to DAC. The SU-6 is great and I like it very much but there is a certain character that USB imparts that I like on its own and the SU6 seems to negate it. At least in my experience
Congratulations on the new purchases👍
Need is a strong word lol
I wanted to try it and saw one used for a decent price so got it. I don’t think it’ll stay, selling it will fund the Callisto and I doubt I’ll miss it. But some auditioning required before I do that.
Streamer is Auralic Aries G1 with Hoer Wege PSU upgrade
Its nice to know im not the only one that biys the shinny shit
