If you can find a used Iron Lung Jellyfish Power Cable, those can be found at much more reasonable prices and you will get the same benefit as you would with the Bottlehead Power Cable.

It certainly is unique. It is a fancy name for a hospital grade well built cable that does have some subtle yet noticeable effects on audio.

Hospital grade? It’s my first time hearing about it. As in built specifically for hospitals? What other grades are there, if that isn’t too broad a question?

I did a quick copy and paste from a website as it does a much better job of explaining it than I could possibly do, lol.
Medical grade power cables are required for all electronic equipment or devices used in any type of hospital or medical facility. Required standards for medical grade power plugs include:
- Male 5-15P HG & Female C13 adaptability
- Marked with a green dot, signifying they have been tested to UL 817 and CSA22.2 standards
- Manufactured with solid pins and an internal cable retention device
Medical grade power cords are manufactured with larger plug bodies to keep smaller wires inside the cable and eliminate the risk of electrical shock. Strain placed on the power cord from accidental bending or pulling could result in electrical shorts if the conductor is exposed to an open ground source. As such, all hospital grade power cables are designed with solid metal pins on the connector, reducing the risk of potentially dangerous data transfer failures, system slowdowns, or injury to patients and staff.
Common types include:
- NEMA 5-15P to NEMA 5-15R (16 AWG) - this is the type used for the Iron Lung Jellyfish cable.
- NEMA 5-15P to IEC320-C13 (18 AWG)
- NEMA 5-15P to ROJ 125V (18 AWG)
- NEMA 5-15P to IEC320-C13R (18 AWG)

These showed up
Initial thoughts, build looks better in person than on photos, plastic cups actually look pretty decent in person, the meta headband looks and feels premium.
Pads are exactly what they look like, and I’m fine with that given it was for the sound, the fact they can sort of slide around a bit in their mounting slot makes then feel a bit cheaper than even their looks.
It’s heavier than I would have guessed and all that weight is in the drivers.
While for me they are “fine” I’m pretty sure some people are going to have issues with fit there isn’t a lot of fine adjustment in the head strap.
The overall sound has changed a fair amount in the last 30 minutes, so I’ll give it a few hours before I comment on sound, but I will say somewhat unsurprisingly there is absolutely no hiding they are ribbon drivers.

I wanted to quickly stop by here to drop some props to @Souldriver as a seller. In fact, I’ve had very pleasurable buys and sells throughout my time at the forums.
I used to have early 2000s Marbled HD600s back in the day. They were my dailies, but when I made a headphone purge to IEMs and then to speakers, I sold them, regrettably so. I am the type that likes to keep my gear clean and in good condition. I am one that babies my gear and to sell them in the same condition as I bought them. I am glad to experience that Souldriver has the same mentality. The headphones came in the same babied condition similarly to mine back in the day. Fair price, no games, no added inflated price because of condition or marbled edition. Anyways, I’m just glad to be surrounded by like-minded hobbyists.
Now it’s time for me to reminiscence on older memories, just with a completely different chain.
Also, a big props to @j.fopps for its condition if it came from him too

Also @j.fopps . I recieved them from him prior to finding a non mixed driver vintage set (that thankfully I had someone in the UK forward for me, no cool old box though) I think both him and I cleaned the heck out of them, so you have a double squeaky clean unit.

Some things have arrived/changed…
First off is my new Audience OHNO XLR cables that I plan on running to my monoblock aegirs
Oh yeah, dual aegirs… well the second one should be here in the next week-ish. I am excited to find out how much of a difference running one in stereo vs running two in mono will make with my susvaras. Impressions to come!
Also, you know that post where I was like yay! I get to use my bifrost 2 again as my PC DAC? Well it actually died that same day… very sad, so I opened it up and lo and behold a blown fuse (this is my second blown fuse in the same year… and at two different locations so idk what is going on with my luck with fuses as of late lol. Anyways, I decided I would just send it back to Schiit instead of risking additional headache if it wasn’t just a simple fuse swap fix. But more bad luck came as UPS may or may not have lost my BF2 package on its way to CA so that’s fun. Fingers crossed they find it, and good thing I got it insured if they don’t lol.
Other than that I also have an additional shelf installed on my rack so it’s ready to go with the second aegir, a quiet fan for my room so it doesn’t get too toasty while running two aegirs lol, and some speaker stands to start getting my speaker setup back up and running. Also, I did end up moving my mac mini roon core into my living room. Being able to remote into it to add music and such is so much easier than how I had it set up before lol, so thanks @elementze !

So I sold my DT880 600ohm, I sold my T1.2, but for some reason, I apparently still haven’t given up on trying to find a Beyer that I like:
I got this T5p.2 for a good price since they’re not in the best condition, and from an initial listen today, they seem promising!
