I don’t pass up on Karma or “wild luck” deals, pair of Vintage Klipschorns just showed up in my life. (First thing in the AM and I swear i wasn’t even looking, Facebook magic!!!) Nowhere to put them, store them or even play w/ them currently but damned if I’m not gonna drive the 20 mins down the road to buy them today
Edit: per the seller, 4 others before me hesitated, sometimes you just gotta jump and cash in hand is always KING!
Been a long time since I’ve heard a pair of Klipsch Horns, make sure you give them some time, they sound like horns…
Also interested in what you think.
Just got back from picking up the K-horns. Super nice dude, and he as a few tons of equipmet in his home set up in every room to include systems in his massive 5000 sq foot “garage” too It was like being in a home set up as a showroom, I’m not over exaggerating one tiny bit. Anyway, he was kind enough to demonstrate the speakers for 3 hours while also allowing me to ogle some of his other impressive collection of audiophilia.
The speakers were built in 1976, purchased new by a gentleman in Richmond who passed away about 7 years ago, he used them in a tube based system at his home their entire lives and i am now the 3rd owner. They are in solid 95% condition. Very little wear and they sound as they should from my past listening sessions with different model year K-horns. I was more than happy to pay his asking price, and he and his son helped me load them into my Suburban, they barely fit, i had to get a tiny bit creative. They will sit parked in my garage packed in my SUV safe and sound till i can make room for them in the house. It’s been a good day today, sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith and not overthink things. Thank’s for including them in your recomendations to me @M0N !
Wanted to share some recent purchases that all improved my quality of life. Firs the audio related one which are the three canvas pictures that i bought just a few days ago. This room already sounded great, but now WOW with just these three the sound improved like crazy. In particular the system sounds much more forward in all regions, imaging improved and is just generally more much more aggressive sounding. Been loving the changes to sound so far. (ignore the elfen lied poster on the right lol)
Next, we found this dope ass half water gallon with a release so that you basically just put a full water gallon upside down and can release the water. I know that you can buy a water despenser or even little gadgets to siphon the water out however this little thing is so damn simple, works phenomenal and only costed 13 bucks. Was an absolute improvement.
New crazy bright lightbulbs (1200 lumens) bit expensive at 35 bucks for a pack of 4 however they improved light alot which dosne’t ususally matter however for photography it really really really helps. Now i can take pictures at much lower levels of ISO without having to slow the shutter speed by too much so it’s increased the posibilities
Least exciting but got some FInal Audio tips since those are the ones i use on my andros and i want to have the right siize tips incase anyone wants to try em out.
Having to rethink a lot of my space as I’ll be combining my office and my listening room into an 8’ X 12’ room. Space being at a premium I have to think cleanliness of lines and efficiency of space. Exciting times ahead but man I’ve got hella work to do! lol
Herman Miller Setu, you can get it with or without arms and a lighter mesh fabric as well, a little less expensive. I’ve had 3 Herman Miller office chairs and they’re all great. This is just the first one I’m buying new because I wanted this specific combination of color, fabric and no arms.
There’s always a good supply of Herman Miller chairs on the used market but they tend to be basic black, or charcoal or some other non offensive corporate office color.
I’m kicking myself because for what the chair costs, I could have bought a really nice USB Cable. lol
It really cleaned up the sound over all and tightened up the low end as well.
I’ve been going on a nostalgia trip and listening too music that I listened too when
I first picked up this hobby which has been a lot of fun and the pain from the clamp
is oddly nostalgic too.
