I’ve thrown considerably more money at more questionable items in the hobby. After speaking to some folks that said this made a difference, I had a debit gift card with enough money left in it and figured I’d try it. The point with LC/APC fiber optic connections is that they’re cut and polished with an 8 degree angle which is supposed to reduce the chance of reflected light going directly back into the fiber. The negative is that it takes an SFP connector capable of supporting it since the angle adds a slight gap.
