I have the 1266tc on loan so now I have some experience with 3/4 (Susvara,1266, and Utopia)
Susvara - The overall best headphone experience so far. Just an excellent balance of everything. I never feel fatigued with anything soundwise or comfort. I can relax with this set but also be very engaged. The realism at times is just incredible. Hard to put down and just continues to impress and amaze.
1266tc - The bass response on this is something else. Very fun and enjoyable overall, but doesnt play well with most organic music. Rock,Metal, Hip-hop, electronic, etc excel with them, but still enjoyable with other genres, but at times, too much upper air sparkle, and even too much bass to fully enjoy all aspects of a recording. Compliments the Susvara very well.
Utopia - Very nice, detailed, slighly forward and awesome depth. For sure the best dynamic headphone Iāve heard. Seems to be pretty picky to the recording and not very forgiving. Really enjoyed well recorded instrumental music, especially with strings and piano/keyboard
I would geberaly agree but to different extents (utopia is a pita to get a good source pairing with imo while sus hasnāt had any real massive misteps yet so long as power was there).
As for music, once again I think for utopia its dumb source dependant. Shitty 90s punk for example sounds far far more well handled by utopia on mogwai/forge than sus on 13r, but you put utopia on 428 for a much cleaner experience and it swings the other way very quickly. On the other hand, while mogwai/forge change the characteristics of HD800S massively i donāt think it makes HD800S any more forgiving of shit music. Compair this to sus and utopia on hpa-21 (utopia on voltage out, sus on current) and I think they are roughly the same levels of forgiving for music (but in different ways). Honestly, over all, I just think utopia is a bit of a pita to nail down because of the crazy amounts of source variance.
agreed on utopia. They are the single headphone I have heard change the most depending on source gear. Its to the point where I genuinely thought they were a bad can when I first had them and then found new gear they work with and they are now one of my favorites
With you there, awhile ago I had the utopia in and actually ended up going for the clear over them at the time, but now that my source gear is pretty different, the utopia are far ahead lol. But on the wrong match Iād genuinely prefer a clear
Although at this point the most picky headphone I have is the 3.1 now, previously was the utopia, but now Iām convinced the 3.1 is even more picky (guess it was picky enough that it got me to make another amp pairing list specifically for the mysphere versions in the mysphere thread lol)
So recently I wanted to mix things up with Susvara and I sold my Formula S and got a Liquid Gold( og) also in between that time, I also had a 1266 on loan. I really just wanted to try a different amp with Susvara honestly, since Iāve only heard it on the Form S, I wasnāt dissatisfied at all with Form S, just wanted to mix things up. And having the 1266 as well on hand would help me further on synergy, preference and whatnot. For these amp and headphone pairings I find that preferences really matter a lot when choosing what to go with. Iād say the Form S has a bit better detail retrieval than the Gold. But the Gold has a special smoothness to it and the Form comes offer more forward comparatively. The Form just has more of an overall refinement and somewhat neutral sig. The Gold gets a bit warmer and treble extension a bit more subdued. Either amp is honestly great with both 1266 and Susvara. Iād be happy with either. For me personally I like that the Gold made the Susvara a tiny bit more "fun"headphone. But Susvara just sounds so good on both.
I really like the utopia (and the lcd r)
and the susvara and 1266tc and 009 are absolutely phenomenal
but the more and more I listen to the mysphere 3.2, the more I wonder if I really need anything else.
Unreal
i think that is one of things of the midrange that is so intoxicating for me with the mysphere. Some tracks I just notice right away how nice and full piano tones sound. I think guitars and cymbals sound good too. They have been grabbing my attention in ways other headphones have not done.
And it retains the perfect amount of ābiteā that I like, probably tuning in the upper midrange or treble or something. I think susvara is more subdued in this respect
EDIT: anyone who has heard the mysphere 3.2 and susvara, let me know if what I said makes sense/lines up with your experience or not. (impressions based off of sagra ā formula s)
