I think the mysphere 3.2 really showcases an awesome midrange but kinda lacks somewhat on everything else compared to Susvara. Though I think both sets have kinda equal footing in midrange albeit different presentations. Susvaras treble is great but nothing to write home about compared to 1266 and Utopia I think.
Sounds like the perfect complement to the TH900 Lawton Purpleheartsā¦ or maybe the other way aroundā¦
The way I hear it and for my preferences I find the stage and presentation to just be in another league compared to everything else (although it is decidedly different so not quite apples to apples). The midrange is great, for bass I often use a subā¦, the treble seems smooth and never sharp/harsh. It is so hard for me to find any fault and where I do find something else beats it out, itās a small sacrifice compared to the benefit of what this does better than other things (stage/presentation, naturalness, tonality).
I would say th900 compliments most things lol
The mysphere 3.2 killer features are its midrange which offer some of the most sublime and tonally rich mids that Iāve ever heard (only the utopia comes close in this regard) and itās standout presentation in regards to the staging and imaging which is wholly unique to the mysphere from what iāve gathered. Bass is decent but will depend on the cushions and the source gear, I found the bass and mid bass to be satisfying runnning the regular cushions on a LAu, the sub bass will always be something a little lacking on these i believe though. they do decent with most genres but i found myself enjoying them the most with acoustic, classical, orchestral, jazz, and ambient. Some classic rock and other less busy rock genres were also very good. I would also say the speed of the driver is something to note as it is very fast and transients in particular are very snappy and sound great, the dynamics as well are very good with this headphone.
Overall i find the utopia to offer more versatility in what it sounds good with, but less forgiving of poorly recorded music. A more full and lower extending bass response as well as more extension in the highs with more sparkle and airier treble with a more resolving signature with a greater emphasis on micro detail and dynamics. Both are very good in regards to midrange, transients, and timbre/tonality, but the mysphere is slightly better in the first two and the third is up to preference as i find the utopia to have great tonality and timbre but for different reasons than the mysphere. if you are wanting the most natural organic sounding go with the spheres, if you are looking for something with a more exaggerated timbre and tonality that takes a great recording and emphasizes the best parts, the utopia.
I would also like to add that the mysphere is definitely worth trying and is also worthy of being compared to these other behemoths, i might even own one at some pointā¦ Still looking to check out the 3.1 on my SET amp in the future
yeah I find it so ironic that I go from loving the tc (very inorganic) the most to the myspheres (very organic).
TC sounded pretty much perfect to me until I got the susvara and mysphere and now I hear the flaws and what Iām missing. I didnāt really understand what natural/organic sounds like let alone value it before hearing those two.
But maybe cable swap and source gear swap/upgrade will close that gap in naturalness significantly.
(to be clear 1266tc is still probably my second favorite headphone overall, it just seems a bit more flawed than some of the other greats)
Iāve likely already said it above somewhere, but the mysphere does things no other headphones do, and when it comes to realism I do think they are the most realistic I have out of the 4 depending on the music, but I would say the susvara is more technically able most of the time (besides the midrange). The way the mysphere presents and stages, itās amazing transient accuracy to life, overall tonality and midrange, and how it portrays dynamics are pretty easily top, at least if your goal is referencing to life. I do agree the susvara can pull of more nuance and microdetail, better texture retrieval, better overall linearity and extension for sure, better speed and separation, but I think itās just not as convincing as the mysphere to me when it comes to more simplistic organic music (susvara does handle complexity better). I think it really comes down to how well executed the mysphere is at presenting what itās good at, and thatās what makes it so convincing despite not being the most technically able out of the bunch (but at times pretty close), donno
But it all depends on how Iām feeling, sometimes I will want what the susvara offers, some mysphere, itās hard to really say one is a step ahead the other overall. But both have their place for sure. This being said, this is now my opinion with the 3.1 and 3.2 in hand, if I still only had the 3.2, Iām not sure if I would rate it as close to the susvara in some aspects (for mainly amp reasons)
Itās a difficult comparison, I have the 3.1ās, the presentation is unique, and the midrange is very compelling, Iām not a Basshead, so the lack of sub bass doesnāt bother me, I have the Bass frames and for a lot of material I think they over emphasize the mid bass.
Iād still rank them Susvara, MySphereās and 1266TC, in order best, to not best, I enjoy the 1266 and I can see people who listen to Sub Bass heavy genres falling in love with the sub bass and the dynamics.
But all 3 are great headphones.
For a while I have been using a sagra ā formula s/powerman as my main stack. A few days ago my chord dave and wa33 arrived. I donāt currently have my 1266tc, utopia, or mysphere 3.1, so I am currently using it solely with the Susvara. Here are my impressions so far:
The dave + wa33 ā susvara is absolutely incredible. The depth, layering, holographic imagiging, etc, etc are all unbelievable. Everything sounds so 3d and real. I donāt usually have strong opinions on source gear, but Iām falling in love. It has absolutely transformed the susvara. Tracks I wouldnāt usually listen to are enjoyable. And my library sounds like I havenāt heard it before.
The NS1 had a huge impact on that system, I think when you get the MScaler, youāll find the same.
very interesting to read your experiences analyzed in such detail.
I have a general remark:
Things like complex resolution, speed etc. are especially with dynamic head speakers like MYSPHERE are very dependent on the pairing with the amplifier.
Quite simply, because such a dynamic system, with its strong back EMF, has a significant influence on the amplifier and the amplifier back to the headphones.
This is of course a disadvantage for any comparison test. Very similar by the way with High End Speakers.
Best regards Heinz
Oh absolutely, and thatās what makes something like this so hard for any of these headphones tbh, I had to generalize on all the different setups Iāve heard, but it really all will come down to the source chain in the end. Itās just something I canāt really go over every source chain Iāve heard so best I can do is generalize there. Somewhat why I did a bit more into talking about amp pairings and what worked the best/highlighted the strengths of the headphones. I could have evaluated on one singular chain which might have given more consistent results but then it would have favored some headphones over the others depending on synergy, I tried to basically take my experiences of the headphones at their best case possible (at least that Iād heard) and then compare that against each other in that way. So it was more like mysphere with my favorite chain(s) for it vs susvara with my favorite chain(s) with it vs utopia with favorite chain and so on. So not exactly the most 1:1 comparisons but just more general differences between them
Dynamic headphones with low BxL value are less sensitiv to the source.
MYSPHERE 3 target during design phase was also be usable with moble equipment. This is something unique for head-speakers
I was surprised how well the 3.1 ran off the woo wa8 and the 3.2 off the mass kobo 424 (both using a luxury and precision p6 pro dap as the dac), did pretty well, although some of the very nice desktop stuff still provided a pretty noticeable jump in sound quality at least to my ears (currently my favorite desktop pairing for the 3.1 is the angstrom stella headphone amp mk2 with a totaldac d1-direct + d1-drivers and for the 3.2 the riviera aic-10 with a lampizator pacific is quite nice as well)
A post was merged into an existing topic: LB-acoustics MYSPHERE 3.1/3.2
So, P6P ā C9 (Tube/A) ā utopia is a shockingly good combo. This may actualy be my favorite portable combo for utopia. Its better than phantasy ii for sure. 428 and wa8 are other competitors. 428 its more technical and wa8 is similar technicaly but I think the stage depth of the c9 may be winning me out as a kind of middle ground between the presentation of the 428 and wa8
Ok, I finally have all of these at the same time, using prion4 for susvara, superconductor for 1266tc, heimdaal 2 for utopia and stock for mysphere 3.1 and 3.2 (so hard to get an upgrade cable!). Will do some comparisons and see what my final thoughts are. (Also comparing with some other headphones in the same conversation like lcd5, d8000 pro, etc)
At the moment Iām thinking I dont really need anything other than the susvara and maybe mysphereā¦
after catching up on this thread i feel like thatās where iām going to land eventually. everything i think iām looking for seems to align with the susvara and mysphere.
Came to this thread looking for amplifier recommendations for the 1266 TC but came away with more of an interest in the Mysphere haha. However I am in the market for a new amp so hereās what Iām thinking and am looking for some suggestions.
Right now I have the Flux Volot and Formula S + Powerman. I really like the Volot for the LCD-5 and the Formula S + Powerman for the 1266. Using the āshitā rating scale I would say that the Volot is ānice shitā for 1266 and āoh shitā for LCD-5 whereas the Formula S + Powerman is ānice shitā for LCD-5 and āoh shitā for 1266. To my ears the Volot sounds more 3d with slightly foward mids but lacks in bass texture and decay. The Formula S + Powerman is a bit drier sounding with a smaller stage but still excellent imaging and some of the best bass Iāve heard out of an amp for the 1266.
I like both of these amps and plan on keeping them but am interested in either something very different in sound but enjoyable on my headphones (1266, LCD-5, and maybe a MySphere down the road), perhaps a tube amp or a warmer leaning solid state. Or an amp that takes the sound of the Formula S + Powerman to the next level (maybe WA33 JPS?). Looking at @M0Nās amp list above, things that stood out are the Riviera AIC-10, Viva Egoista 845, Woo WA33 elite or jps edition, and the Traformatic Primavera. However I donāt really want to spend upwards of 10k on an amp and am hoping to keep the purchase under 10k USD.
Things that Iāve considered that are not in the amp list above are:
Ampsandsound Nautilus,
Primaluna EVO 400 Integrated,
Cayin HA300,
CFA3
Any other amps I should consider that would fall under the āholy shitā category for the headphones I own? Iām not trying to make a decision now, just want to start narrowing down my options of things to consider and demo if I can. If I were to describe the sound that Iām looking for it would be bass like the Formula S and Powerman, warmer more organic sound, slightly softer treble, and bigger stage and depth.
Headphone specific tube amps that work well with the 1266 (or Susvara) are something of a rarity.
I like the WA33 (I have a standard edition), but I am looking for a step up.
You named most of them Egoista 845, Riviera AIC-10, Woo WA33 EE
The others on my list are the Angstrom Stella and the Aries Cerat Genus.
When I bought the WA33 I was also looking for a Trafomatic Primavera.
Theyāre all close to impossible to audition in the US, and difficult to find used, so your looking at new prices for the most part.
Someone mentioned that Aries Cerat were going to release a dedicated headphone amp this year.
You have to be careful with integrated tube amps if you intend to use the speaker taps for headphones, they wonāt always behave nicely.
