Update to my thoughts on the mest. I figured out what one of the main qualities is that I like so much about the mest ITāS GOT SOUL @j.fopps u hear that bro? SOUL. I mean we both know Andros has soul, it has everything BUT MAN IM REALLY FEELING THE SOUL FROM THE SINGERS ON THE MEST MORE. Feels like I can hear her emotions thru this shit. SO GOOD. Again the staging is awesome, super fun, super interesting. Feels like generally theres more texture and detail in the mids which is surprising since I heard some people whinning about the mids on the mest but Iām thinking thatās just because they didnāt have the right eartips. Itās been such a pleasure listening to the Mest. Everything just feels so right. Imma be so sad once I return em (which will be this weekend btw @Draaly since I donāt think anyone should have things on more than a two week loan). I donāt think I will buy my own pair since It feels like itās in a weird place between Andromedas in price and something higher end. I am more than very interested in a higher end Unique Melody IEM tho, and this pair revived my interest in tube IEMs (for those who donāt know, I was thinking that Tubeless design IEMs might be the only thing I like)

All right folks, Valentines Day sale price was just enough to push me over the edge. I bought the Unique Melody Mest MKII last night. Hoping these are endgame for a few years. Next upgrade may be a new DAP to replace my Hiby R6Pro although I like the unit so weāll see. Mest due to ship today, pretty excited!

Also for Upgrade on Dap, I suggest you look into a Hiby RS6, thatās what Iām hearing the mest on. Phenomenal. The RS6 has awesome staging capabilities which really shows off what the mest can do IMO

Can confirm the RS6 is absolutely worth the upgrade over the rest of the hiby line, though not tried one with the mest, but I bet it would be a solid pairing

Word, over the Dap upgrade also maybe look into the tips that @Draaly recommends. I also have been using them and they really were best for fit since the mest is a bit picky in my experience. (assuming those tips donāt come with it anyways)
super solid af. Tried the mest on the questyle dongle dac I have too and it was great but itās staging capabilities left me wanting more. And the staging really is the most special part of the mest imo

Those tips are Beyer xelento tips. If you live in the US you need toenail beyer customer service to order them as they arenāt listed anywhere online

Well, Iāve had more than enough time to realize that the UM MEST MKii is the best set Iāve owned or heard. Absolutley love it! Dang!
Bought the unit with balanced cable using my Hiby R6Pro. I listen to a wide range of music including HI-Rez flac files (HDTracks.com) and flac from cd rips. Primary listening is jazz/pop, vocal, classic/hard/metal rock, classical, and occassionaly digging into my collection of old punk rock (ahh, memories). As you might imagine, the recording quality of a flac from cd of Dead Kennedys vs HI-Rez download of Tool, Pink Floyd, or Carl Orffās Carmina Burana varies quite a bit. The Mest MKii handles all recordings well without needing to play with EQ. As I spend much of my iem listening time walking/hiking/playing disc golf, using my beloved Fearless S8Fs was at times painful if my music choices fell to poor recordings. There were times Iād switch over to my Thieaudio Legacy 9s but was never quite happy with their slight low to mid bloat/muddy sound and less detail although they handled poor recordings better. In short, Iād always wanted a set that provided the wonderful detail of the S8F while also providing realistic/accurate and āfullā bass. Well, the MEST MKii provides those things and more.
Iem qaulity is incredible with good fit and a cable that is not too heavy making securing it to clothes while active good. I have large but symetrical ear canals and use Dekoni foam tips appreciating their great seal and ability to keep the units in my ears while being very active (trail running).
Plan to sell my other units soon to fund a DAP upgrade. Hate to see my Fearless go but the MEST is so much better in all regardsā¦ So happy!

YOOOOOOO NOICEEEEEE! Glad to hear ur enjoying em! Would definitely agree on the bass, itās nice and full without being on the thin side. Feels just right, great speed and detail on it too. I mean the general detail on mest is pretty dope!

Just fwiw, its going yo be a fairly substaial difference if yoy get rig of the foams and use a very close fitting rubber tip. I find eith foams i get alsmost none of the wild staging that makes mest my go to iem
