Stands, Storage, Organization

EXCELLENT! Thank you, exactly the type of parts I need and was looking foršŸ‘

Hereā€™s the TImbernation rack for my home office. I think thereā€™s plus/minuses to the side-mounted support, the biggest minus that I wish I had the internal diameter 21" instead of 18.5", which is not really wide enough for some things. Slightly deeper would also be helpful for larger components.

This was designed to be 2 vinyl storage on the bottom, then one main component shelf, and a ā€˜floatingā€™ turntable stand on the top on cones. However, since then I had Timbernation make a ā€œin-between shelfā€ to add another level, and then Butcherblock Acoustics made another shelf on top.

Every floating shelf is leveled by the screw-in feet. Wish I had an accelerometer to see how effective the vibration control is.

you can put a glass of water on top for some basic indication about vibrations

Thank you @keithc @ericg @Souldriver. All very helpful.

I spoke with Jim at Butcherblock and he was great in answering all my nonsensical questions. Considering the rack has to do double duty, i have to have the tv on the top rack and tt in the middle rack. All not ideal, especially with the tt having to be in the middle rack which has a height of 8". I am going to order a custom dust cover without a back. So it can slide in for clearance. Not going to be as enjoyable to drop in records. I asked about the black to blend in with components and disappear in the space, but it is hand stained and maple is a PITA to stain black according to Jim. Doubles the price.

It looks like the final contender is going to be below in 60"

Ohhh I see what you did there! Bottom half shelving is solidly attached which allows for the extra height shelving above to be modular. Yes this too is a good idea and I bet my builder will prefer it due to the solid and more stable design.

I have been considering a 24ā€ interior width and 20ā€ depth. That depth would still not hold a large Lampi but I donā€™t expect any massive new additions to the hoard any time soon.

Another potential option to consider. Thank you for the pictures. All of you!

Even at 20 Inches (thatā€™s what mine is) youā€™ll need to move the rack away from the wall for the big lampizators to run the wiring if thatā€™s a consideration.

It is possible but yeah a hand stain is prone to streaks when you go that dark on light wood. If it was sprayed it would be different. Or if it was figured maple then it could be stunning but needs the care.

damn thereā€™s some great racks here! does anyone mind to share rough cost? I want to get one soon but am still struggling with how expensive this is!
I really like the idea of a modular design to potentially fit a lampi in there (one dayā€¦)

Yeah, nice wood and the work is expensive, and very time consuming and labor intensive. i purchased a $2800 saw thingy for my buddy and in return, for the cost of the fancy wood, he is supposed to build me things. Itā€™s been a few years i figure it is time to recoup my expenditures on his equipment :muscle:
