Stands, Storage, Organization

I’m still working on getting everything re-arranged and getting all the equipment wired up again, but I wanted to say thank you for the recommendation!

(EDIT: Updating photo now that everything is actually plugged in and working.)

(EDIT 2: Posted an updated photo of the wiring in the back in another thread.)

I don’t know if this is a fairly normal experience or what, but now that I’ve spent two days with the new rack setup, my music actually sounds audibly just slightly better than it did when everything was clustered together on my desk. It could be any number of things: it could be placebo, it could be the fact that now all the audio gear is on it’s own power strip, it could be that they’re more spaced apart… I don’t really know, but hey, I’ll take it! lol

Could also be cable routing in addition to the others mentioned

Love the amp to dac size dichotomy

It’ll go in the other direction when I get the La Voce lol

Finally have stands for all my headphones! So now I can share. I notice that they are also much less visually intrusive now too.

And this is how I store iems. I like to have them ‘ready to go’ so I can grab one and put it in my shoulderbag or a handbag. The box came with a full foam fill and I got the little zip cases from a raspberry pi shop.

That’s a lot of dusting! :grinning:

Random question in case anyone has advice: I’m looking for a shelf or something to put underneath my CRT to lift it up to eye-level (raising it up by maybe 6 inches or so). Footprint is roughly 18" x 18" and it’s /heavy/ (the internet claims it’s 70lbs), so I’m looking for something pretty sturdy.

Anyone have anything they’d recommend?

How about an amp stand? My Nautilus is 68lbs and I use a Monoprice amp stand, which supposedly will take up to 200lbs.

Awesome, thanks for the tip!

The stand just arrived today, so everything’s still a work-in-progress, but I just wanted to say thanks again! It looks like this is going to be what I needed.

Nice PVM. Had one for a short bit. Coil whine was unbearable lol. Definitely needed some capacitors replaced.

Any of you guys have cool ways of storing tubes? I am thinking about buying a pelican type case and cutting the foam out for the boxes. Mainly because i think it looks cool.

That sounds like as good a way as any. I always found with tubes the hardest thing was to keep notes on what they were and what they sounded like. That was with only a handful of them I’m simply not organized like that. I can’t imagine you guys with a few dozen tubes for the same device.

Im actually trying to conceptualize something currently for storing/displaying my tubes. I want to make something out of a nice wood to set on my rack. The 2 pictures below give you an idea of what I am shooting for.

I did find some cool vintage repairman style cases. But i would like something like you pictured with slots.

Actually this kind of reminds me, i have a hand me down from my grandpa that he took home with him from WW2. It looks like an ammo case but markings indicate it was more likely for grenades (just my guess) I dont want to take the original paint off but maybe cleaning it up and sealing off the rust i can put foam in there.

That is a pretty good conservative and conventional idea and use case. I’d go for it.

Oh wow, those cases look so cool! (I like my RCA tubes, but that Tung-Sol color scheme is pretty classic.)
